As an example; Mexico City is experiencing rifts appearing on the surface of the city going from the southeast towards north.

These rifts are appearing from one moment to the other and "swallows" people, cars, and houses. The depth of the rifts is not yet known.

Now Mexico the southwest of the city is inhabited by very devout christians (VERY devout). But the phenomenae is spreading to sections of other religions as well. (The city is divided in religions and lifestyles).

Today - just two hours ago (13:30) a new rift opened in the colony "Polanco" in the middle of Mexico City. Damage is not yet known.

Now, if there is a God - why would God do a thing like this?

No. We are all victims to nature. There is a huge volcano near Mexico City and this is to blame for the "rifts". I haven't found much information online about this happening. If people are dying we should be able to read about it. The inhabitants of the various locations where these rifts occur are strictly coincidence.

We don't have to assume that all gelogical and natural disasters are a result of God. These are sometimes called acts of God by insurance companies and news media, but that is not necessarily true. A disaster doesn't prove or disprove God.
I do believe in God. The Bible teaches us that the earth was created in perfection. When sin entered the world, it didn't just affect the human race, it affected the animals and the planet itself. Before sin entered the picture, lions laid down with lambs, snakes weren't poisonous, fruit didn't rot, earthquakes and tornadoes and hurricanes didn't exist. Sin has cursed the earth and the Bible tells us that it "groans" waiting for its redemption (Romans 8). These "groanings" will continue until all things are made new.

When, you live in a particular area, you must be familiar with the dangers that exist there. Almost every area has its good points and its bad. Some have tornadoes, some earthquakes, some snowstorms, some fires and some have hurricanes. You need to be aware of the dangers and as prepared as one can be. And then maybe with God's help you can avoid disaster. This is a challenging world we live in, you must be always on your toes with a good relationship with God to help you persevere.
