Not TOO unusual...
My family is in Virginia, and thats where i want to get married (my father has a lot of connections in the city so EVERYTHING is discounted). My fiances family is from California. Now, his family already said they were willing to travel to wherever, whenever. So i basically had my pick of any day i wanted.
Being from california though, he (and his family) dont really do weather extremes. Something Virginia is kinda known for. So... to keep them from melting, we decided against June/July/August/Sept.... to avoid freezing them, we're avoiding Late Nov/Dec/Jan/or Feb. Since my birthday is in march.. thats out too. So we were looking at April, May, and October.
We put all the dates in a hat... shook it up, and threw em across the floor. than we stared at em for a while, tryin to figure out how we were gonna pick THE one. They stayed on the floor for about 2 hours. Then the dog ate one. So we had to pick them up. Then something came up and we realized we would probably have to move it a year or so, possibly (He's military). So... we threw the hat away.
To this day, Dont have a date :-P But have an idea.

Unusual... you don't know the half of it! lol.
You'll think I'm nuts after this...
I've always had a thing with numbers: my ssn is the same 2 numbers repeated, believe it or not, and ALMOST EVERYONE with only one or two exceptions in my life has a birthday or anniversary where the month and day are divisible in each other. My bday: 03/09, my fiance, 02/01, my parent's anniversary (originally) 6/12, my dad's second marriage, 04/08, etc. etc. etc.
When we decided to get married, I knew that I had to have the right numbers in my date. I had my heart set on October 18, 2008. 10/18/08. It sounds good when you say it, it looks good on paper, and the words (without getting to technical in the english language) resemble each other - e.g. even though October is the 10th month, it's root is Oct, meaning 8...an octagon has 8 sides, so it fits better with the 18th, and 2008. The eights are everywhere! And symbolically, the 8 looks similar to an upturned version of the infinity symbol, which means "never ending, or no beginning and no end" like we hope our love will be.
See, told you you'd think I was nuts! lol.
In the end, my fiance didn't care what the date was, as long as he got to marry me. And if it came down to it, of course I would have changed my date if I needed to, but I'm incredibly glad I will be marrying the love of my life on October 18th, 2008!
Thanks for asking this question - it's not often I get to explain my number fetish! lol. :)

My husband and I have the same birthday. It's so cool. I never have to worry about my husband forgetting it. It's in August. I like to spread out my gifts. So in the year you get gifts for Valentines day, then there is 6 months until our birthday in August. Then 2 months til Halloween, the next month is Thanksgiving and the next month is Christmas. So the ideal time was somewhere between Valentines day and our birthday. Thats May/June.
May/June are rather busy. College graduations, mothers day, memorial day w/e, High school graduations, father's day. We wanted to pick a weekend when the most people could make it.
My husband and I have the same favorite number--24. So I flipped through the calendar until I found which months had a 24th on a Saturday. In 2006, that was only the month of June. That happens to be the w/e that isnt one of those previously mentioned special events.
So that was decided! A nice easy number my husband could remember in a month that was half way between Valentines Day and our birthday!

I got married October 23rd 14 years ago. The thing is we were going to get married October 16 but one of my guest wedding anniversery was that day and I felt that should be her and her husbands day. I was just finally glad to have a date set after being in a waiting period for over 2 1/2 years. Plus October was mild and not too hot and we were going on a honeymoon that had fall fiolage (leaves) so that was good for us:)

I had origionally decided on Sept. 18, my mom was making me wait till I graduated from college to pay for my wedding and I really wanted to be married in Sept because it wasn't as hot of a month but not cold either. . . after i had decided that I found out that that was teh exact day that my fiance's mom was suppose to marry his dad and his dad called off the wedding 2 weeks before the date, talk about bad karma, they did end up getting married in Dec. and divorced 10 years later, who would of thought.
Anyways, the 2 weekend before the 18th were labor day and 9/11, not good and the last was too late . . .
So I found a reception site I wanted and it was only available 06/05/04 so we took it, I love the number pattern.
Unfourtunately it was the weekend before college finals!

We knew we necessary to get married in th summer season, ideally now not throughout college time, so as that throughout fact left us with a 2 and a a million/2 month window. We made a catalogue of each and every of the Saturdays from the mid/end of would til the top of first area of September. a number of them fell on trip weekends (Memorial Day, 4th of July, hard paintings Day), so as that they have got been crossed off the record. We later desperate that June would be rather bearable so a techniques as climate (now not too warm), so as that gave us 4 dates to chosen from. We ended up going with the nineteenth, basically because of fact that is precise contained in the path of the month, and the climate ought to be pleasing then.

We picked July so that my man's friend would be available to travel to be best man (he lives overseas and is a teacher, so will be on summer holidays)
And I picked the 6th because 6 has always been my lucky number, you know how you just have a number that you like? It meant we are marrying on a sunday, but that is fine, since our wedding is at our home.

I am american and My fiance is from Russia. We are both Us citizens but the rest of his family is not. My Mom chose our Wedding date. Sunday aug 31st, the Sunday before labor day.My family is spread across the country and my fiance family is spread across the world. My mom was hoping that day would give people enough time to travel and such. And because Monday was a holiday, there would be no rush to go home.

January 1st was our anniversary to begin with, and my husband was going to have leave time. So in October we told our families that we were going to get married (originally it was supposed to be a court house wedding). My parents weren't happy, but we all compromised and had a formal wedding where I was from. The symbolizim of the new year and all means a lot to us.

Nothing too exciting. We knew that we wanted to get married in a particular time frame, and we decided on the exact date based on when the venue was available. February 2, 2008.
