Adelaide is a small city when compared to other capitol cities. Adelaide is known as the "City of Churches". Adelaide is not all beach, however there are some fantastic beaches along the Adelaide coastline, Glenelg being the most popular. I suggest searching on the Internet for information on what Adelaide is like. Wikipedia is good. "pie floaters" are unique to Adelaide

Adelaide is a great place to live. We aren't as big as the other capital cities, but we also don't have the hassels that they have as well.
One of he best things about Adelaide is that the people here are friendly. (as was told to me the other day by someone who came over here for the Masters Games) We also have the best beaches and the best ranges in the world.
Come over and see for yourself. Once you have been here you will come again.
The one thing that sticks in my mind (because I am one) is that we have the most volunteers here than all of Australia. It was proven with the Sydney Olympics and the Commonwealth Games held in Melbourne.

Moved to Australia in 1973 (Melbourne) and can't understand why the whole population of the UK isn't here already. Apart from that I don't know Adelaide at all but the country from the Flinders Ranges all the way down to the east of the city is fabulous. Unlike the UK you have access to rivers beaches and thousands of hectares of public land so there is really no limit to what you can do here.I'm sure you would love it if you try it.

Adelaide is a lovely city squeezed between the Mt Lofty ranges and the sea. My family moved there from the UK more than 40 years ago. It is hotter and drier than anything in the UK but it has everything you would expect in a city of half a million people. There are plenty of websites about Adelaide, here's one that might interest you

Adelaide is good but I prefer Queensland. There is a coastal strip that has some lovely beaches . The weather can be extreme . the temperatures change dramatically with a wind change so you can have it very hot or very cold but not as cold for as long as Britain .Australia is a unique country with plenty of variety , multi culteral. Loads of ex English love Adelaide with nice gardens parks and cathedral. it is busy there but not as busy as Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane. Adelaaide is surrounded with many hills so some super drives and close to the wine regions.

The other answers are good. If you love sunshine and Brits, you'll love Adelaide. Just don't go to live in the suburb of Elizabeth!!
