Yes, immigration has gone on throughout our nation's history, and America wouldn't exist without it. Because of immigration, parts of the country are wonderfully cosmopolitan. I know, I live in one of them. As someone who hates to travel, this is very convenient - I don't have to travel the world, the world comes to my home town. That's pretty cool.
Of course, you can't mention immigration without the problem of illegal aliens coming up. America is currently stuck with millions of foreign nationals living within it's borders in violation of it's laws. You could call them 'immigrants' - you could just as accurately call them 'invaders' or 'colonists' - but doing so gives immigration a bad name, and I wish people would stop doing it. What they really are is illegal aliens, and they need to go.

First you choose to break our laws entering,where you could have done it legally.
You refuse to assimilate into our culture and just parasite off of us.Draining our welfare aid to our own people,over extending our Medical Services and taking non taxed earnings away from US workers who are taxed to death .
A large amount of the drug trafficking is done by the illegals. You carry dangerous communicable diseases , and travel about unchecked.You flaunt our laws as though they do not apply to you.
The illegals are a Invasion of our borders and need to be stopped.

Legal is alright, illegal, worst thing since communism.
Let's see, illegals clog up the school, legal, and medical systems, respectively. Contribute little to nothing to society, and largely leach off of the natives and non-illegals. They make it harder for people to legally migrate, and bring down the country as a whole. That about covers it.

Legal immigrants are considered cool IF they make an effort to learn to speak English and learn to accept and embrace American customs.
