Green is the middle of the warm & cool colours and can go either way depending on its composition. It is the dominant colour in nature and is considered relaxing, refreshing and restful to the eye. It symbolises balance & harmony and rejuvination. It is a good colour for any room as it is restful and at the same time energising.
Saying that, my own bedroom is very pale creamy yellow with some blue accessories, blue & yellow cushions and a blue folded throw on the bed. It is a good colour as the room is north facing and fairly cool.
Blue on its own is generally too cold a colour for bedrooms.
The colour should appeal to you. Try looking through some magazines such as At Home, Your Home, Ideal Home (if you are in the UK)
To be relaxing, make sure the room is clutter free.
Happy painting!

A decision like that depends a lot on your own personality and outlook. Some people find bright colors very soothing, but as a general rule of thumb, most designers will recommend colors in the green/blue/purple end of the spectrum. Being less intense and less "exciting", they allow you to release tension and relax more than the red/yellow end of the spectrum. My own preference is for shades of blue with natural wood-tone accents. Good luck and happy decorating.

Green is so good for stimulating your eyes, you will fall sleep easily. To make your room more cool and relaxing, i would suggest to paint 2 colors of green, lighter green on the longer side of your room, dark green on the side walls. I've done that in my room, and the room looks so exceptionally pretty. You should pick the colors carefully so they will stand out nicely. Take a look at a tree to get an idea of green (if you want green). Two colors make your room more "modern" !

I've heard many designers steer towards soft greens for bedrooms because it's a psychologically soothing color to most people.
Wood tones for accents, earthy things like basketry, pottery and stone for accents play up a sense of the outdoors indoors.
I think Japanese style in decorating is probably the most serene style. Maybe a few elements in that style would help you achieve what you're going for. Good luck!

I had my bedroom pale green before I got fed up with it. There is not much light so it became a bit dull. Now it's a happy deep yellow and it cheers me up on a summer's morning and feels warm and cosy in the evening when I sit at the computer trying to answer your questions... and I've kept some green curtains.

A lavender blue colour, I think. Or a pale green. If all else fails, go for a pale colour. Think pale! They are naturally soothing.

I like neutral colors that way you can accent with other colors with your curtains bedspread pictures etc... The colors I would go with wood be in the tan family. But every bodys taste is different. Plus think resale value. If it is neutral it usually means the next buyer wont have to paint.

Usually, a cool, calm color - pale green, sky blue, lavender.
Second choice would be your favorite pastel.
Or, choose your favorite color already in the room, and emphasize it! [ from bedding, a painting, etc. ]
Ours is peach [ my fav ] with smoke blue [ husb' fav ] print curtains and spread.
Keep it pretty, tidy, and 'un-fussy' for most soothing effect.
