What kind of computer is this? This almost sounds like an issue with some Intel chipset mother boards where the sound quality on media playback (MP3, CD, DVD) is garbled, skipping or sounds like chipmunks. I would try updating the drivers for audio component in your PC & see if that corrects the issue.

Does this happen if you use another media application such as iTunes or Winamp?

Or with out ripping in case you want to play the CD, bypass to techniques of living house windows media participant and 'decide on all' contained in the 'document variety'. Now double click the song contained in the CD to play

1)Update sound board drivers.

2)Run ScanDisk on your drive to be sure some sectors arent going bad.

3)Could be overheating...make sure all fans are working and any dust is cleaned with caned air and all slot covers are installed so that you arnt messing up circulation.
