From one Stage IV to another, I say: Huzzah! Some of the meds can cause really severe peripheral nerve damage so it makes sense that your dental nerves can be affected. My nerve damage is in my hands and feet, but such is the price for survival. Make sure you get good dental care in the future as you are probably more prone to tooth decay now. Congrats!

RE:
Late term side effect from chemo????
Five years ago, I was a stage IV cancer that underwent chemotherapy and radiation. I have some obvious long term side effects from both of these. (but hooray for surviving, no?! LOL) One I didn't hear of before, is that my teeth are now hypersensitive to hot and cold and almost seem to have...

been through the same as me, poor you. yes me too all my teeth have gone to pot my dentist is taking three out at a time i have a plate which i thought i would never get used to but it's become a part of me and people say what lovely teeth you have! if only they knew it's a great trik a kids party's when the kiddies are saying all they want for christmas is there two front teeth i show them my gums they are amazed i think it makes them feel a bit better! but yes chemo drains your body of everything kills naughty cells ans kills good cells, but i love my teeth much better than my original one's. hang in there you've got through this you will get through anything and if you was scared of the dentist before you wont be now after going through cancer chemo...... what more can i say. good luck to you and take care.xxx

Long term effects of chemo and radiation can include increased risk of developing new cancers in the future. Another common one is the increased risk of infertility. This increased risk has to be balanced against the treatment of the current cancer. Without treating the current cancer you don't have a future to face increased risk in!

Congratulations!!!
I think people always have side effects form radiation and chemotherapy, for years after the treatment.
Yes I have heard of cold and heat sensitivities in the teeth, hands, feet and ears.
Its a big side effect of a drug called Taxol to name just one.

Since both chemo and radiation treatment can damage your bones, I can see a correlation to teeth. Talk to your doctor yet? Maybe your dentist.

That's why I dislike the chemo treatments. Yes it saves peoples lives but what about the after effects?
There are natural treatments available such as ashitaba and cellular defense.
