OK! I want a good-quality camera. My dad found an awesome deal for the Pentax K100D Super. Before I was going to go with the Canon Powershot S5. But since the K100D is a DSLR, I understand that the quality will be better.

1. The S5 has 8 megapixels. If I want to crop an image, I will get higher quality than with a 6-Megapixel. (K100D)

2. The S5 has a turnable screen. I'm VERY used to being able to see what I'm shooting whether it's above me or below me. It's just a comfy feature. Then again, the K100D has only a viewfinder to see what you're shooting. So I have to guess at what I'm shooting to get a nice picture.

3. The K100D has better quality. Less chromatic aberration, a larger sensor. The S5 has the sensor of the 6-MP Canon S3, which cramps more pixels into a same-size sensor.

4. I don't plan on switching lenses. I want to know if the Kit Lens is any good for Macro and landscape photography. If it's capable of super macro, then I'll be even happier.

All I want to know!

If you don't plan on switching lenses, you would take a look on Panasonic DMC-FZ18 digital camera.
This is an 8.1 Megapixel resolution camera with 18x of Optical Zoom (28mm - 504mm) equipped with Lenca lens and It also has optical image stabilization.
You can check its specifications here:

First, consider sensor size. The sensor in the Pentax is bigger, which will give better results with fewer megapixels. Advantage Pentax

Second, with a viewfinder you do NOT "guess" at what you're shooting - you're looking at it directly through the lens. Advantage Pentax

Third, a DSLR offers so much more opportunity to grow your photographic hobby. With a digicam you're rather limited. Advantage Pentax

The Pentax "kit lens" is a good starter lens. It isn't capable of "super macro" - whatever that is. If you want to shoot macro, buy a real macro lens. All these zoom lenses emblazoned with MACRO are only "close focusing" and NOT really macro.
You can buy a Pentax K-mount manual focus macro lens on ebay for a reasonable price. In fact, every K-mount lens ever made will mount to the K100D. Advantage Pentax

The K100D has Image Stabilization in the body so if you ever use one of the older K-mount lenses you'll have that in your favor. Advantage Pentax

If it were my money it would be on the Pentax.

When it comes to the 18-55 kit lens, Pentax has one of the best ones out there. Metal mount and SMC coatings noone else can touch. If your looking for an all in 1 lens look at the new Pentax 18-250 or Tamrons 18-200

i think of you have replied your guy or woman question. You even choose the Pentax. so which you're able to get the digital camera you would be pleased with. The D40 makes use of the comparable Sony-made sensor because of the fact the Pentax, so in terms of image high quality, the transformations would be minor. except there is a few characteristic on the Nikon which you do not get with the Pentax, i do no longer see an overriding reason to p.c.. the Nikon over the Pentax.
