As I said in your other thread, it's all bulldust. Or "pure gold plated bull$hit" as my dad would say, lol!
Check this out: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=homeschooling+philadelphia&btnG=Google+Search There are heaps of homeschoolers in Philadelphia. They can't all be sick, lol!
Anyway, your parents are legally responsible for providing your education, not the school (or the State). If your mum and dad want to remove you from school and educate you somewhere else (at home), there is nothing the school can legally do to stop them. It is NOT up to the school where (or how) you're educated; that is up to your parents. You and your parents just need to stop paying any attention to what people at the school tell you; the school has no right to a say in whether or not your parents can homeschool you. Your parents should stop asking the school for their permission to homeschool you and instead TELL them: "We're removing our child from your school because she is going to be homeschooling from now on...Oh, and if your school doesn't like it or doesn't agree with our decision or support it, tough!"
If you and your parents check out: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=PA you'll see how wrong the school are with their "information"! Maybe if your parents speak to the school again, they should print it off and take it with them to show the staff just what your State Law actually says about homeschooling because they obviously don't have a clue! Either that or they're hoping your parents won't have a clue and will just swallow their "interpretation" of it and just never bother checking for themselves!
The ONLY reason I can think of when the school would be justified in saying "No, you've got to be sick etc to homeschool" is if they were under the impression you want them to help you or provide you with resources, home tutoring etc to enable you to homeschool. Then they can say "No, we're not going to give you any help to homeschool/pay for you to homeschool/let you enrol on our homeschooling programme unless you're sick or mentally ill or whatever".
Otherwise, as long as your parents understand that they will have to pay all your education costs themselves if you homeschool, it is no different from you leaving one school to go to any other private school (which is essentially what homeschooling is!).

In America, it is legal to homeschool in any state, for any reason. What the person at school is telling your parents about is called HomeBound, which is when the school sends your work and instruction home for an extended period of time due to a physical illness or mental disability. Completely separate from homeschooling.
Check out the following site for the requirements of homeschooling in PA: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?State=PA
One thing I would recommend, do NOT contact your school or board of ed for info on homeschooling. PA is notoriously rough on homeschoolers, as far as schools not wanting to comply with state law. You do have to have an outside evaluation each year, and you have to put together a portfolio and go through testing to show that you are getting at least a standard education, but the schools generally won't tell you that. Philly schools, especially, tend to be harsh on this.
Get in touch with some homeschool groups in your area - this page will give you some. http://www.hslda.org/orgs/default.asp?State=PA The leaders of these groups can give you all the information that you and your parents will need to homeschool in PA. Also, I really would recommend becoming a member of HSLDA (Homeschool Legal Defense Association) - for something like $80 or $100 per year, they will handle any legal difficulties that come your way...anything from a letter from the school district to litigation. (Not saying that either will happen, but they have in the past, and HSLDA is excellent at what they do.)
Hope that helps!

As others have stated this up to your PARENTS not the school as you are not the States child - not even in PA!
Your parents need to read the law for themselves, withdraw you from school and move on! Be ready to fight for you.
Best wishes and don't listen to this woman - just finish with her and go above her, make sure things are set up according to the letter of the law. If you go to hslda.org not only can you find out the legal requirements but also local and state groups who can answer questions and help you out!
Remember she's a paid ps worker - unless she has actually educated herself about homeschooling she really has no clue and will of course want to keep you in the ps for the money!

No to the sick. Anyone can homeschool for any reason. There are different restrictions for each state (or you could be lucky, some states have NO restrictions)
In PA, you need to notify your intent to the district superintendent. You don't even need to tell your school) There are a lot of expectations, and testing, but if you join a local group, they'll be able to walk your parents through all that.
Good luck! Read into it over the weekend and get to work on monday!

I haven't read the other responses but you have to understand that public schools are going to say and do what ever they can to get parents to keep their children there.
Parents are pulling their children from the public school system at alarming rates for a variety of reasons, and this means less money for the schools. And we all know what less money for the schools means for the children being taught there.
I home school my daughter and when we first started I was told to contact my local school district for help getting started. BIG mistake! They took our wanting to home school very personally, as I am sure this woman you and your parents talked to is doing.
Bottom line, this is YOUR families decision and you can NOT allow the public school system to bully you into doing what they think is best.
I read over the home school laws for Pennsylvania and they seem very reasonable. Don't listen to the public school, do what is best for your family!

In most school districts there are two different things. Homeschooling, which means you CHOOSE to withdraw from the public schools and learn at home, and you have a right to do this whether you are ill or not
And Hospital/Homebound programs, which means you are still a student at the public school, but do your work either in a hospital or at home because you are too ill to go to school. A lot of times when you mention homeschooling to a public school administrator, they will tell you that this is your only choice, but you aren't allowed to do it unless you're sick. This is NOT TRUE. You can still HOMESCHOOL if you're helathy

The woman is wrong. It isn't surprising though, school officials often know little about homeschooling law. If you are truly talking about homeschooling, you do not have to be sick to do it. If you are talking about home-bound instruction through the Public School system then you might have to be sick to do it. Homeschooling is something you do completely apart from the Public School system. Your family buys all the needed supplies and materials and makes all decisions.
Go to http://www.hslda.org click on the words "In Your State", then select your state, then click on "laws How to homeschool legally in...." There you will find the truth about homeschooling in your state.

Home schooling a child, or young adult is a choice the family makes.
The schools have no say so, and you do not need their permission.
Home schooling is legal in all 50 states of America.
All you have to do is follow the notification, or registration requirements.
All the information you need can be found at this web site.
http://www.hslda.org/
Simply click on your state to find all the requirements pertaining to home schooling.
For further information on homeschooling, methods, curriculum's and more go to;

It depends on where you live. If you live anywhere in the US, Canada or the UK, you do NOT need to be sick or mentally ill to homeschool. Look at www.hslda.org to find out the laws where you live then have your parents do what they need to do. Finding a homeschool support group (rather than Yahoo Answers) could also be a help in telling you exactly what you need to do.

Home schooling is a choice families make, and it has nothing to do with your health (although some families may decide to home school because of a health issue). Sounds like the lady you talked to was just being a *****. If you're really interested, do some research on the web.
