I'm waiting for a call from the doctor...but wondering what it could be? It doesn't look like any case of pink eye I've ever seen. Also last night we were playing w/ face paint & maybe that could have irritated whatever the red ring was? Her left eye kind of turns in toward her nose too when she tries to look straight! It looks horrible!!!

Wow. If you can't see an eye doctor, you should probably call up a regular doctor. The swelling and discharge makes me think that it's infected. I'm not in any position to diagnose you, but Yahoo Health might give you a vague idea of your problem. According to Yahoo Health, the sticky (thick) yellow warrants medical attention.

Sounds like an irritation from the face paint. But she could have gotten bit or stung by something. That happened to me once, and my eye did the same thing.

I get that once in a great while from my mascara...for me...its a bacterial infection in the makeup. My eye swells shut, it gets all gross and gooby, sticks together, burns in sunlight. It takes about a week to go away.

Make sure she gets into the doctor though so they can flush it properly and she can get some meds for her eye.

Glad you got in touch with the Dr. If you don't get an ans. from him soon take her to the emergency room and keep a cool compress on the eye.

It sounds suspiciously like a sty.

However, I wouldn't risk it, and I would get her medical attention immediately. An infection of the eye can easily result in blindness.
