My fudamentalist friend doesnt believe in birth control. Her and her husband had 5 kids and a 6th one on the way. Thats cool for them...But really, do you think if they have say 12, 16, 18 kids, they might change their mind? I mean, they are missionaries! They cant afford the kids they have already!

Yeah, I am a "fundy" I think lol. But I believe in using barier (spell?) methods like condoms, spermicide etc. I don't want tons of kids lol. One I think might be enough. Birth control through hormones is another story. Did you know that sometimes a fertilized egg can be ovulated out simply because of birth control pills or shots? When I found that out, I stopped using them because that fertilized egg is a real live baby. The hormones will keep the egg from attaching to the wall as the last effort to stop you from getting pregnant.

thats why she has 6 kids. how can she not believe in it, its very real and it works.

if you mean she doesn't believe in using it then thats just plainly stupid when one considers the children she can't afford and continues to bring into the world

looking from a humanist standpoint would it not be better to love and provide for say 2 or 3 children which you can afford to do so (well love isn't money but im talking about the cost of raising children) rather than have 8 that you can't afford or provide for, how can you give them the best operitunitys that you can, which we as parents all strive to do

I find it a bit selfish and unethical to have loads of kids. The world is already overpopulated. No one needs 6 kids I don't care how much you like them. Adopt if you want that many kids.

In China they are limited to one child in theory - and many children don't have support from siblings. I had 4 brothers and two sisters. I've lost one brother and an older sister to cancer in the past 10 years. So it is good and bad. I value the sister I still have - maybe more than anything else. Siblings are a pain when you are young - as you grow older - losing one is painful. Poverty is part of being in a big family - it educates you! lol

Who knows if they'll change their minds? Anyone who has more kids than they can afford because they "don't believe in birth control" is unutterably stupid and irresponsible, whatever the reason for their non-belief.

let's just clarify one thing not all fundamentalists are anti-birth control...that being said if your friends want to have 30 kids thats their choice, as long as the kids are well taken care of and loved and this family is not feeding off our welfare system then i say let them live their own lives and be happy that they are happy as you say...he/she is your friend.

As long as you can care for your child or children emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially, have as many as you'd like.

However, birth control is an option. It does need to be used before conception.

Birth is not the beginning of life, it's the arrival!

Hope that helps!

Fundies aren't against Birth Control as a group. That is Catholics.

And who cares how many kids she has?

It's ironic how only the people who realize the severity of the overpopulation problem are the ones that don't reproduce. The world is filling up w/ fundies multiplying like bunnies.
