I stumbled across this last week ~ it worked for my kitten so it might work for your kitties as well. We struggle with fleas in the fall too.
My son decided to pick up our 10 week old kitten while his hands were full of BBQ sauce. The only pet shampoo I had on hand was the flea type & it says not to use it on kittens younger than 12 weeks. So I just used our regular shampoo ( Suave "aloe & waterlily") She came out smelling clean, her fur was so soft & to my surprise it even got rid of the fleas. If they are older cats they aren't going to like the bath so my cousin who is a groomer said to buy a mesh garment bag & put them in there, so they can't claw & scratch (It's not abuse) Also you need to use flea powder on all carpets & vacum ALOT or what I did was just rent a carpet scrubber & scrub all carpets.. Best of luck..

From my own experience with my cats Frontline Cat is the only product that will clear fleas lice and ticks in a cat in 1 day 24 hours. Its applied to the neck of the cat so she cant lick it off, it must be applied to the skin direct not the fur. If you are unable to afford vets charges since 2005 you can buy Frontline Cat on the Internet, much cheaper than vets charges. Its worth it, then you gotta treat the house!! The dead fleas drop off the cat with Frontline but some alive may still be in your carpets and funisings, if the cat has been treated they will jump on her but are dead in minutes. So they look for another host like you!! Use a bomb from the pet shop and vaccum several times a day. Hope this helps you good luck.

You will need to give both cats a flea bath and use one of the home fumigators to get rid of any fleas that are already living in your rugs and/or furnishings.
The bowl idea that you mention is a variation on a remedy that I have heard in which you place a bowl of soapy water in a room with a light shining onto it. The fleas are attracted to the light, jump into the water and then drown because they sink in the soapy water. If the water wasn't soapy, they would float.
The bowl idea isn't as effective as fumigating the infested rooms.

The bowl is just to see if you have fleas in your house. It doesn't get rid of them.
Heres what you have to do is buy some foggers, read the directions to find out how many you will need and what to cover up.
you have to take your cats out while the foggers are set off, at least 3 hours.
During that time get your cats dipped, sprayed, powdered.
.The best thing is to go to a Pet Smart or a store like that and get the best stuff they recommend.
Alot of vets recommend "Front line", you can get that at any
vet office. you just walk in and buy it. no appt. or any thing.
Good Luck, Ive dealt with this problem a couple times, its a pain in the butt. I have 2 inside cats as well.
Also 2 dogs in the backyard which is where they come from, you can walk outside, have one jump on you, come back in and before you know it your infested.
So guess what, you have to treat your yard too and any outside animals. The yard granules you can get at any Wal-Mart or Home Depot, Lowes etc.
Dont forget to vacuum and wash all bedding too.
What we do for our little fur-balls, I'm almost ready to be pet free. LOL

Yes vinegar or even just dish soap Put it on the floor at night by a night light and you'll be amazed by how many fleas are in the bowl. You should go to the vet or even order online FrontLine Plus...that stuff works great!
But you'll have to get them out of your house. Ive heard Borax sprinkled over night on the floor and vacuumed up in the morning kills them.. Keep vacuuming everything couches chairs beds..

I have a shampoo that works really great. I live near the mountains where there is a lot of dirt and wildlife everywhere. My cat loves rolling around in the dirt & places like that. I had bought a shampoo called, "Sergeant's PreTect flea and tick shampoo". [It's safe for cats and kittens]. It cost about 15 dollars but works really well. I haven't seen my cat itch in a loooong time. Anyway, you use it once a month and it kills eggs, adult ticks, and fleas. It even leaves a baby powder scent. I strongly recommend it. :]

First vacuum every inch of carpet and furniture that your pet frequents, now dispose of the sweeper bag.
Wash all bedding, rugs, slipcovers and anything else that your pet lays on. Now sprinkle carpets, cat beds and furniture with dried pennyroyal (mentha pulegium), which is a member of the mint family, or pyrethrum powder (the dried flowers tanacetum cinerariifolium). Repeat this step after 3 to 4 days.
You will also need to bathe your pet using your own mixture of flea shampoo. To make this shampoo, combine 1 cup of a very mild dishwashing soap and 2 teaspoons of oil of eucalyptus. Wet your pet down, then lather, rinse, now lather again and rub this into their coat for about 5 minutes. Now rinse your pet in a strong tea which you have made from pennyroyal leaves steeped in boiling water, then cooled. Dry your pet and brush.

the only home remedy I am aware of is bathing the cats and the fleas will drown but you have to make sure to pay attention to the face and ear area because the fleas will run there since there is no submerging in these areas and it make take several baths and flea combing to rid 100% and make sure to keep the cats warm between baths

Yeah, a lot of people say that. Try it if you want, and discover how much it DOESN'T work.
Just get some flea treatment from a vet. Don't waste your time and money on so-called 'home remedies', and DEFINITELY not anything from a pet store. Get something that actually works i.e Frontline or Revolution, Advantage or Advocate.

You need to take them to the vet to get a dip. If they are in your home (fleas) you will have to call someone to spray. Those things are a pain.
