For example, If I ETS in January and there is a deployment they want to send me to in January, can they stop loss me so I can go - or do you have to ALREADY be mobilized before they stop-loss you?

Also, if you do know the answer can you direct me to the right regulation that states this?

Stop-loss mean retained to active duty so no not really. Since you aren't on active duty you can be stop-lossed. However if you are still under contract you most definatly can be called back and activated. Once on active duty you can be stop-lossed. That's the reason contracts are 8 years total. As long as you unit doesn't need bodies you won't have to go.

I cannot point you to the applicable regs.

The answer is YES, you can be stop-lossed as a reservist. You can be stop-lossed, reactivated, mobilized, and deployed from the inactive ready reserve.

Remember that as long as you have not been formally discharged and outprocessed completely, you are at the whim of the service.

Yes you can be stop lossed, it doesn't matter if your unit is deploying or not. Stop loss happens within your MOS not your unit, sort of, if your MOS is stop lossed then you can't get out and you can't change units.

mrsjvb: stop loss has nothing to do with the 8 year obligation, I've seen people get stop lossed from retiring.
