Someone asked a question about what religion you are and why. I answered. It was totally my opinion of what religion I was and why I believed it. Then I get thumbs down for my opinon. Why do people thumbs down when stating what they personally believe when the answer is in no way demeaning or putting down anyone elses beliefs? It is just my opinion of my faith and why I believe that. How does answering a question about what I personally believe for myself warrant a thumbs down?

I hear you; this happens to me, too, particularly when actually giving the factual answer to non-abstract questions.
I just think it's people enjoying the anonymity of the internet. Either they recognize your answer is better and want to give it thumbs down to draw attention to theirs, or they've misinterpretted what you said (judging by how often answers on here often seem as though the answerer never even read the question, this is not far-fetched.)
Or, they just disagree, and know that they can give you a thumb's down without consequence.

I understand what you are saying, you just answered the question. I just read your answer and can not see why you would get so many thumbs down. I am not Mormon but I respect what you believe. I just gave you a big thumbs up :) you can't take people here so seriously sometimes they seem to forget we are all real people.

I believe in the power of prayer, do you?
If you truly believe in the power of prayer, then do what I do.
Every time a person gives you a thumbs down or a thumbs up, consider that a request for prayer from that person and pray for them. You do not need to know who they are or what their needs are, God knows. Just lift them up in prayer before the Lord!
So those of you who want to give me the sign that you want me to pray for you, do it now and I promise to pray for you.
God bless you.

You haven't been on here long if you're surprised by the Mormon-hating that goes on around here.

I guess they thought you didn't really know your religion or why you believed it, so you were wrong.
People just suck. Sorry!
