How do you get rid of your old faults and sins in the past? Do you think that repentance and strong will are required for having such feelings? Should a person relate his prospective thoughts and behaviors to the right paths which will lead him to the success in this terrestrial life?

To get rid of the sin you just ask for forgiveness from Jesus and believe in Him.

To forget them... that's not possible. I have a really aweful past. I would do anything to get rid of all my old faults and sins in the past. However, I have learned over the years that dwelling on these things only hold me back from doing what God wants me to do. You can't control where a bird flies but you can control where he builds his nest. Know what I mean? you can't control thoughts and memories that pop into your head but you can control how long you choose to dwell on them. Come up with some alternate thoughts to replace the icky memories. Sometimes my thoughts are so loud and go on for so long that I have to say out loud that I am a child of God. I am human. I make mistakes. God forgives me even though I don't deserve it. He sees me as a new creation and I will not let the devil hold me down with something so silly. It was yesterday. Gone. Done. Can't change it. I will be different today and will continue to grow and make mistakes and be forgiven. It's ok to not be perfect. Through my imperfections, God is able to show His strength, mercy and grace! His strength comes out in my weakness.

God is good! I can't even tell you some of the aweful things i've done. But I have moved on. Becuase I chose to move on and I chose to keep my focus on God and not on me. :)

Good luck!

First of all there is a misguided understanding in some circles of what sin is.
Eph. 2:1-4 we were by nature children of wrath... nature comes from the Greek word fusis which means by long habit of doing the same thing over and over. Sin is a habit pattern we created. Not with the help of the Holy Spirit we have to break those habits.
Here is were behavioral psychology helps us.
Habits are created by doing the same things over and over 21-31 days in a row.
Yes there is will power but not that alone. We have a helper Jesus said. JH. 14 and He walks along side us.

Acts 2:38 says to repent and be baptized (bu immersion because that's how God set it up) in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sin and you will receive the Holy Ghost. When you get the Holy Ghost you will speak in an unlearned language. This is because the Spirit gives utterance Acts 2:4. God is waiting on you to fulfill your obligation. This is for everyone. God is still pouring out His Spirit today, as he did 2,000 years ago.

Once a person accepts Christ as their Lord and Savior and asks forgiveness of their sins those sins are forgiven and never more remembered by God. IT IS PERMANTELY FORGIVEN AND FORGOTTEN.
What God forgot, man remembers. What man remembers God forgot.
Thinking right thoughts is what God wants for all of us to do anyhow. So doing the will of God God will give the directions of anyone success according to God's will and purpose. Your option is to seek the Lord for directions for your life. Because we are all flesh we will continue to struggle with our faults. Only God's Holy Spirit can help us to improve in this area when we ask for His help. One step at a time will get rid of old faults. God knows we need help but God want for us to show Him we are dependant upon Him for all help. It works.

As a Christian I know through God's holy word that when we repent and give our hearts over to Jesus our sins are remembered no more. They have been erased.Together with God's word and the Holy Spirit these help me to decide and choose what's right.

Seek forgiveness from those you have wronged and from God. Seek to do good. Make restitution or amends for the things that you can. Love. Make yourself a better person with regards to others. How you define success in this life is important too. If one is successful in being kind and doing good to others, but is not successful financially, are they still a success? What is success in this life is really what defines who and what we are.

If you ask God to forgive you and ask Him into your heart and you repent Jesus will wipe your slate clean. All your sins and old faults will be a distant memory and you would have a mansion prepared for you in Heaven.

from the wording of your post I do not think you are asking from a Christian perspective... as a mortal... you can do some to keep the old ways at bay... but alone you, or any other mortal, does not have the strength to compleatly control self.... some will get lose and cause trouble... regardless of how hard you may try within yourself to keep them chained up..... even those of The True Christian Faith are not able to keep the old self fully controled... but we do our best and rely on God for the rest.

Practice makes perfect.
You have to make a real effort to try to change and then avoid situations that will make you slip back into old patterns.

Sort of the same way an alchoholic stops drinking or a smoker quits. It takes real work and self control.
