we were in the house and there were a bunch of people I've never seen in actual life; a girl (about 20), a boy (I guess the girl's brother, also in the 20s), an old man (probably their father, in his 60s/70s), and little girl who's just started to walk...anyway, they came to ask my dad about a university or something, and when they left, they gave us a bag full of the little girl's stuffed animals and toys

what do the people symbolize???

bunch of people = social life
ask about university or something = education related
bag full little girl's stuffed animals and toys = desire, deception

You may be feeling disrespected when it comes to social life. This may be due to peer pressure. It may seem unrelated to your social life in dream. But people in the dream may seem to be a family. However, every one of them symbolizes something. Boys and Girls symbolizes your friends. Old man symbolizes respected individual, girl who's just started to walk symbolizes people under you (maybe freshman)

Asking about university is the key, basically it means something about your education or knowledge. Being given a bag full of toys shows sign of deception and you may be feeling somewhat insulted in reality and you had to dream it out. And this involves your social life and you may have peer pressure.

Actually, you shouldn't concentrate on the people and "symbolizations" when it comes to dreams. Dreams are not all "symbolical", it can be as literal as it can get. And again, don't focus on specific things, broader your view and see the bigger picture "as a whole". Which means, include the "bag full of the little girl's stuffed animals and toys".

Now what it means, is really hard as there are not much details (and Im no Daniel the Dreamer).

So there's a girl, a boy, an old man, and a little girl. 4 persons. No old lady (or mom if you will).

Simple I can say, you will meet someone again from your childhood days who you may not even remember or never met - say your father's best-friend's family - which still qualifies as "childhood" because they've known each other before.

It also appears that your father, or family somewhere in your ancestry line, helped these folks, and so they are giving back something to you - one of their descendants maybe will be giving something back to you - and it could be anything.

:D

Are you getting ready to go away to a University, or getting near that time in your life? Or did something you watched or heard recently make you think about that time in your life? The theme of the dream seems to represent a young woman's leaving her childhood behind- stepping into her adulthood and mourning the loss of the little girl of yesterday.
The people could represent adults in your life (though in different form) and the little girl could represent yourself. The toys bagged up and given to your dad could symbolize leaving your childhood behind.

Dreams can mean something but the chances of you figuring it out are slim. I have had dreams that really did happen months latter usally nothing important. But most of the time its your brains way to move around information or get rid of useless information and if your subconcious was trying to talk to you it would be very hard to decifer.

There are a lot of theories but nobody really knows.

The fact that your dad is the only one in the dream whom you recognize should tell you that you were subconsciously thinking about your dad. I have had dreams about friends mainly because they were on my mind before I went to sleep or I was stressed about one of them. Your brain really does move information around and decipher things while you are asleep. Hope this helps......
