What would happen if all the plants in our food chain died?

Eventually, we would meet our demise.

If all the plants died, then that means we could not eat the plants nor could other animals that eat them. Sometimes, we eat those animals, too.

There would be a lack of food for many of the organisms in the world because we, essentially, obtain our energy from plants (which get their energy from the sun).

We typically only eat about 20 or so different kinds of plants. There isn't a big selection at the grocery store. But there are some millions of edible plants. We'd find a different kind of food to eat. Adapt or die.

It happened already about 65 million years ago, when a 10 km asteroid hit yucatan, the ejecta reentering the atmosphere caused global wildfires and most of the plants died out, the dinosaurs died out also.

Don't forget that trees and plants pumps water into the atmosphere and this helps to cool our planet from the heat from the sun. So if all the plants die we die.

Now if you mean the whole human race, there are not many edible plants that some human isn't eating at some time. So if they all die out we would all be buggered.

We would all spend as long as we could trying to survive on meat and compost.Other than that i think nature will always find a way and we would slowly after a hundred or so years adapt accordingly.

Reincarnation sounds exceptionally cool to me. i've got been exceptionally good so i think of i might finally end up as yet another human. yet i'm a Christian so i do no longer think in that. You circulate to Heaven once you die.
