As a wedding planner- hope you enjoy-

The answer with a little history behind the tradition...
All of the brides wear white, they have the right to wear what ever color they want, they are having the cermony, they are buying the dress, their options are not limited to white, they can have so many options to choose from in fact did you know that the first color was not white at all the first color was and the tradition behind that comes from Victoria the Queen of England, the she started the tradition in the era that heralded "white" was a status color it was exclusive to the wealthy meaning "I'm rich enought to wear a dress ONLY once" white was a symboly of purity (and the bride) did not evolve until much later. But before the color white was traditional it was silver that was the traditional wedding gown.
now, like I stated before every bride has the right to wear whatever they want most women buy white even if their skin appears sallow or washed-out in white, they SHOULD select a gown in ivory or candlelight or "Blush" because these colors are flattering.

Brides should wear what is comfrotable my dress what not pure white but a more of a cream color because of my hair color and skin color. White used to symbolize purity and that you were a virgin, realisticly many brides arent. It does not matter what color you wear so long as you are marrying for the right reasons. I know someone who wore a black formal dress for her wedding she was in her late 40s at the time and marrying for the first time and she did not feel the need of " playing bride". White is a tradition it is not mandatory it is important to wear the color YOU feel happy and comfortable.
I know a young lady who wore a white gown with red trim on the bottom and a red bow in the back and she looked beautiful many white wedding gowns and dresses have colors in them like red, pink, light green and aqua blue.

All brides should be able to wear what they want but that may or may not happen due to who's paying for the gown and they don't speak up, if it is a surprise wedding, traditions and so many other reasons. I wore a champagne color wedding gown when I got married the first time and the second time I wore a burgandy wine color dress. Basic white doesnt look good on me. I choose what I wanted and I felt more beautiful in it then I would have if I had to wear a white gown.

You know that wear white on your wedding date isn't really about being a virgin right. It actually started a really long time ago when only the rich(king & queens) could afford to but white cloth. So it was a stature thing that turned to a bride being pure. Know days it is a custom for some. I think it is the one color that make the bride stand out from her family and friends. Easy to find.

How ever you can wera anything you please. It is truly the bride and grooms day to celebrate there love coming togather and becoming one.

Best wishes to you in planning your special day.

Considering the fact that we live in the USA and there are no laws on the books against it, yes, all brides have the "right" to wear white. Why wouldn't they??????

Are you one of those small minded people that believes that white has some silly significance? It doesn't.

If it did, I guess there would be millions of people wearing a scarlet letter "A" for adultery too.

It's a lil' odd to see a bride that has been married prior, divorced, & has kids wearing a white dress in her wedding...

Just because what I've grown up thinking about the tradition & meaning of wearing a white dress... but sure... they have the right...

Anyone has the right to wear anything they want as long as it doesn't break the law. Any color is fine as long as the bride is happy. Traditionally it's white, and I'm fine with that, along with any other color in the palette.

I think every first time bride has the right to wear white, although I do think it is tacky if they hav like 3 or 4 kids together.
When I marry next year, it will be for the 2nd time. I also have kids from my first marriage. I wont be wearing white, I would feel stupid. I am trying to find a lovely champagne coloured dress.
Other colours I would consider are Ivory, Cream, Silver, Pearly grey, light blue.

I think a bride should be able to wear whatever she wants on her wedding day. I wore white and I could not have imagined wearing any other color.
