I just got a quote for a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu. I wont be making any payments on it. Im 18 years old and the insurance is going to make me pay a down payment of $502 and my Monthly payments will be $236. So many people tell me that I need to shop around more. I have a learners License now. If i go and take the operators test i already know i will fail so I need more practice on my own I CAN drive just dont have much experience on a real road. So is $236 good you know for someone my age.? I really need this car before the end of the month. I have to have a way to go to college and Work.

I would think more around $200 a month would be a little better. It is very high but I was in the same boat once and remember paying $213. You can shop around more if you'd like, it's your money.

Wait 3 years and you won't need an FFL to purchase a firearm. Or you can wait three years, spend at least $600.00 on an FFL, and several thousand more setting up a business. Then you can buy all the Beretta M-92's you can afford. Bottom line is that you have to be 21 to do it legally, whether with or without a Federal Firearms License, which you don't need to purchase a fun in your home steat. Doc

I use Geico. Their rates are great for me, but I'm much older. I'd check them out. With your learner's permit, you won't be able to get good insurance. If you're driving a family car, though, you can be insured under your parent for less.
I'd wait until I had a license before trying to get insurance if your car is already insured in someone elses name. A learner's permit driver won't have much experience behind the wheel (as you admit here). Is the car in your name? If so, then you'll have to get the insurance in your name: it will be very expensive.

that's just about right.
There are several discounts that you might be able to work with.
1) Good student discount
2) Multiple insurance discount.
I have state farm (which is King for insurance), and i opened up a life insurance policy with them, paid 25 bucks a month, which in turn gave me a 40 discount on my monthly insurance premium.

I have a 20 year old who drives a 2001, her insurance runs about 180/month full coverage. That's with Allstate. If you can get in on a relatives insurance and they may be willing to put you on theirs and get a multiple car discount.

Find a good insurance broker and ask them to shop for the best price for you. I tried all the one line sites like Geico and Progressive and my broker got a better price with Safeco.

If you are carrying liability only, that is a high rate. If you are carrying full coverage, at your age it could be that high, but I'd shop around some more.
