You are right. Christians are scared into being sent to Hell so therefore to save themselves they worship God. They want to live in a paradise when they die and go to Heaven so they worship God. If the threat or promise of Heaven and Hell were not in the bible most people who call themselves "christians" would turn away from the religion. You have to ask yourself....Do you believe in God because of what he has promised you or do you believe in him because you want to? Most of the Christians I know do have a great fear of going down the wrong path and being sent to Hell. They love their God only because they don't want to be punished by him. However....this is just my opinion. I mean no offense to anyone.

All religious and/or political groups want things run according to what they believe the truth is. There are some Christians who are not afraid to stand up and say what they believe in. The Bible was not written as a handbook of human government; in fact, God only allowed human government of the Israelites because they insisted upon it - then they just had more problems because of it.
The people who wrote WE THE PEOPLE were Bible-believing persons who wrote God into how they believed the government should be run. They acknowledged that God was the ultimate authority - they weren't "escaping" from Him.

I think you misunderstand God's plan for mankind. Initially, God had his chosen people, Israel, and gave them the 10 commandments to follow. Of course, no one could possibly follow them as we all sin. So God gave us a saviour, Jesus Christ, that if we believe in Him we will not perish. Jesus took on the sin of the world as His own. Once we receive Jesus into our hearts and repent of the sin we have committed we are saved. This is when we choose to live a life according to God's will, this however, does not mean we will never sin, and that is impossible for any human being, but that we do our best to live a life outlined in the Bible. It isn't meant to be a threat to anyone, but an open invitation of love, to live a life free of guilt and condemnation. America was founded on the belief in God and more importantly the biblical teaching of Jesus Christ. Is has only been in the recent past 40-50 yrs that our great nation has begun turning our back on God. Since we allowed the educational institute to develop secular teaching and, instead of allowing our citizens to learn both sides of spectrum and decide for themselves, but completely omitting God from our schools, etc... have we seen a decline in family values, with increases in every sort of criminal activity and immorality. Yes, Jesus is our King. God is our authority, in fact in ancient days God warned the people when they asked for a human king, that they would regret it and all they needed was Him. But man is man, and as you say stupid, I say man is imperfect and we cannot put our hope in a mere man as we will always be disappointed, but God and only God can save us from ourselves as He is the creator and loves and cares for His creation. However, when we turn our back on Him and make our own idols, i.e. money, TV, etc... He is a jealous God (read the Bible) and He will let us suffer the consequences, but is always willing to restore us if we are repentant. Look at history, most recently 9/11. We were repentant for a short time, now we fall right back into our self righteous ways, be on guard as we do not know the day or time.

My,my, my are you one confused dude! Nothing you stated is in any translation of the Christian Bible. Some of what you stated is part of 'churchanity'...which is totally false. The God that I know never threatens people with an 'ever-burning hell'.
The wages of sin is eternal death...not eternal life jumping from one hot rock to another. God promises eternal life to 'whosoever will'. If you choose not to enter God's Kingdom, that's up to you. Blaming God for man's ignorance and mistakes is "stupid "(as you say).
You seem to be a man who has had some bitter disappointments with organized religion... well join the club!
Anyone who seeks the Truth will eventually see that what we have been taught does not always line up with God's word.

I'm not a born again Christian nor am I what people call even close to being a Sunday One Timer but I do know, and can tell you what I've experienced and seen. You can call it what you want but I believe I know what and who did it! In all of my life I have never seen God do anything to man.. But everyday I see what man does to man. God supposedly gave us a brain to use for judgement. Sure is a lot of brain dead people in this world. Tell me, what nations have NOT survived for their belief in God or did survive for turning their backs on Him? History and the Bible make it pretty clear. **** with Christianity and you're going to pay. The Caesars, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and other Arab countries, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Communism, etc. But again, it's man vs. man.And what the hell does the Constitution have to do with any thing. Again it's man. God didn't put the elected officials into government. At least not at my polling station! And Kings? Where in the hell have you been? There are a lot of Kingdoms left on this earth but the kings are only figureheads. Again, elected officials by the people. I think God has done a pretty good job so far. I have a nephew who developed a cancer that one in one hundred-million people get when he was seven years old. The outlook was bleak to say the least. I prayed for that boy like I prayed for me and my team when we were in an intense firefight, being chased by the NVA, etc. If you don't know that feeling you have no right to ask your question or rant and rave about God. Anyway, I got pissed off because as usual my prayer was a one-sided conversation. I asked him for PROOF that He was there, listening to me, doing something to help one little boy who had done no harm to anyone or thing in His world. Now most people would have hauled *** to the closest bunker or profoundly asked to be forgiven for being so blunt to Him. Right? I mean why tempt fate? All of a sudden, and this is no BS my head became filled with such an intense white bright light that it actually hurt. You want to know what it did and how I felt when it ended. It scared the **** out of me!!! That's what! I went to my wife and I told her that Shawn would be o.k. and damned if he wasn't and still is! My wife developed a cancer and needed to be operated on. The elders of her church ( I don't go to church) prayed for her and laid hands on her. The tumor had COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED. No more treatments, no more medicine. Yeah, I'm not what most people call religious but then again most people who do call themselves that really aren't. BUT, I know what I've been through, seen, and experienced right here in my own home and in war and every day I thank God for being there and being a LOVING God to us all and to HELP me ( a mortal man make my life and others) just a little bit better with His HELP. Maybe mankind should ask that each and every morning. Maybe, just maybe, things might get just a little bit better. You believe in what you want. I'm just telling you that He's out there and watches us all. That's why he is also known as Father. If your a dad, I'm sure that somewhere down the pike you will need to correct your children and they'll feel as though Hell has descended upon them. Mine did and I did when my dad got ahold of me when I disobeyed. Those rules you mentioned, there are only 11 of them and we, as a race, can't even abide by all of them. Think about it.

The Catholic Church has used Hell to control Europeans in the Middle ages.
The Middle ages Popes made himself the Divine judge and executioner of folks who didn't abide by the non-biblical laws of the Church.
Thank God it's different today. The Catholic Church have come a long way.
I wish some Muslims would also stop living in the Middle ages.

Let's start this simply and before we go off onto subjects like hell and just why you think it's ok to legislate your morals on others. First you really need to prove that there is a god or at least provide evidence that supports the Bible as a trustworthy source of information about him. From where I stand, there is nothing compelling to say that it is a trustworthy source.

Yep, like no one else can possibly believe anything. Oh and the unbelievers and then the question is strictly to atheists. I mean it depends on what the question is as to whether I'm a believer or an unbeliever. Warm and tingly? I thought I was just excited.

I just want to say something to jolly roger. The person who asked this question AGREES with you! No where in those detales does it say anything about condoning the use of the bible for government. In fact, he is saying that the bible has always FAILED. Read the question more carefully before attacking someone who agrees with you. lol
