how much money can a group of people from canada, going to the USA to shop,
spend when they go the the USA. we are only going for a day. thanks.

If you mean what is your exemption for purchases bringing back to Canada, it is $50 each for trips of 24 hours or more. Technically, if you are gone for a day trip less than 24 hours, the exemption is zero. But you are likely to make it in unchecked if with less than $50 each.

If you stay 48 hours, your exemption jumps to $400 each.

well, you can spend as much as you want. It depends what you want to buy. I would say, with travel, tube passes, food, you would probably start at $200-$500 before the shopping (depending which part of Canada you're coming from)
