Instead of getting out of their car and walking to the person's door to tell them they are there they must wake everyone in the neighboorhood?

So Rude! I think they need to come to the door if they want someone in my home. I also hate when we have a lumber party and the parents call the kids from the car to tell them to come out. I think they should get out of the car and at least meet us. After all how many people would really let their kid go to a slumber party with out knowing who's in charge? Yet I have seen it happen.

Oh, I really hate it. Although I do make allowances for people with physical issues, new moms with babies, and everyone else when it's absolutely pouring out.

A friend of mine in high school couldn't date any boy who was stupid enough to pull up in front of her house and beep. If her dad heard the car's horn he would go out, tell the boy to go away and stay away - forever. Always cracked me up to hear the stories the day after!

It is rather inconsiderate to everyone else around, but is understandable for those with no cell phone or no legs. However, more than one or two honk-notices is completely rude. The honker should not be surprised at unfriendly retaliation at this point.

If you're expecting them, then you should be standing by the door. When they drive up, you walk to the car.
Tell them "please don't honk, my neighbors complain. Let me know when you're coming, and I'll be looking for you."
I don't mind it if a group is picking me up, say between 6:30 and 7, and they tap the horn to tell me they're out front.

Yes. If you can't haul yourself on up out of your car and walk to the front door then don't stop by. Car horns are for emergencies not for being lazy and not getting out of your car.

If someone is coming over and you know they are, you should be outside or at least at the door waiting so they don't have to wait or honk.
Besides if everyone in the neighborhood is sleeping, so should you.

Yes, I think it's rude and plain lazy in many cases, but there are special circumstances when it is ok, such as agreeing to it ahead of time to prevent someone from having to come to the door. If you expect it, it's not rude.

Depends on who it is. One person comes to mind, she has trouble walking(bad knees) and I don't have a problem with that. Another person I know does it because she expects to be waited on. In that case I ignore it and let her get out of her car.

It's just rude. At this point, everyone has a cell phone. Use it or get out of the car and knock on the door.
