Most units sold - Wii.
Who'll win war:
This is my cut and paste answer. The reason for that is because a tech info is a tech info, you can't beat it.
PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.
Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
PS3 has 8 (7+1) kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3.
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in 4 slots card reader (except 20GB and 40GB versions), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 6800 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 6800 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.
PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it. That's why in some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console. Biggest games weigh only 25 GB (Xbox 360 will need more than 3 discs even for those).
On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. Soon there is going to be cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting vibrocontroller soon (Dualshock 3).
On PS3 you can help sick people by running Folding Home project. Wii and Xbox 360 didn't even think about it.
New 40GB is coming with a lower prive between around 400$ and 400 euros (depends on the region).
I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

If you look at numbers you will see that Sony is winnng because of the overall dominance of the PS2. The PS2 was the best selling video game system ever and still continues to sell even with the PS3 out.
The topic of who is going to win the console war is not an easy one considering each one has a strong point. The wii attracts people to gaming that wold not usually game but it has a weakness because it is not real powerful and can't make as good as graphics as the other.
The PS3 while is probably the strongest of the three in power suffers from developers not being able to use all of the power because of the challenge programming for it. Therefore the PS3 suffers from lack of triple A titles as of now but if you look at upcoming games you will see that the PS3 is gaining a lot of good looking titles like Haze, Ratchet and Clank, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune.
The 360 is a powerful machine and has the Xbox Live which many people will argue is amazing but recently peole hve started to ask why they have to pay for a peer to peer online gaming. In my opinion the Playstation Network is just as good and it is free.
So I have said alot of stuff not hinting really at either one and the reason is I do not know if a clear winner will be decided. The wii is dominating but I think it will be slowed by bad graphics, games becoming repetitive, and being underpowered. I think the PS3 if it gets the third party support that every Playstation system before it has got, will dominate the 360.

PS2 still has the strongest games line-up in the past 2 years among other competitors.
On the other hand, it's hard to tell who is gonna be the winner of this new generation console war. Wii has the best chance here, followed by XBox360. I hope PS3 will finally pick up the sale next year as more and more quality games coming out. Unlike PS2, PS3 lost some console exclusive games to Wii and Xbox360 respectively. Hard to tell the influence on PS3 at this moment

They have all had a certain amount of success in this industry. The Wii was a huge hit and priced to sell in the market, but lakes the big hit game that it needs. The Xbox360 has been revitalized with the smash Hit Halo3 and may end up winning this race with that game alone. From a technical aspect eh PlayStation3 is probably the best device on the market. They just need a hit game and the addition of the network connectivity of the Xbox. Blu-Ray puts the PS3 in a class all by itself. I personally prefer the PS3 but Halo3 has put the 360 in my home for now.

1st Question: Microsoft
2nd Question: Nintendo
1: Having a next-gen console out a year early is an easy way to one-up the competition. But, the weaker tech will eventually let Sony get past them and the hardcore gamer support will let Nintendo get past them as well.
The world gaming market always favors Nintendo for its longevity and its god-like dominance in Japan. And the Wii is probably the most universal console ever built. It might be a toy, but its got a solid base of non-gamer support that its competitors don't have. The moms that tell their kids to stop playing video games, all play Wii now.

It's hard to rank the 360 because of the Red ring of death.... It would be difficult to say that the system or the company is a success because of the poor engineering..... Games themselves for the 360 have carried the system and it's sales...Without Bungi (halo) and the creator of gears the system limitations and flaws wouldn't be tolerated by most gamers.... Microsoft has to be concerned now that Bungi is now creating multiplatforms games including first person shooters.
Based on the success of marketing , I'd say nintendo, As far as technology and success at building a superior game console, Sony.

The Wii has just become the fastest selling home console of all time, taking a mere 38 weeks to pass the 1000000 mark in the UK alone, Nintendo are cleaning up in both the home console and handheld console markets. 9 million Wiis sold and a staggering 47 million DSs.
Xbox 360 has done well and with Xbox live will continue to appeal to the hardcore gamer
As for Sony, the PS2 is reaching the end of it's lifespan and the PS3 is fast becoming a dead duck, with little in the way of decent software and a price tag that is just simply unrealistic, and that is even with the recent price reductions.
LONG LIFE NINTENDO !!

360 value cuts are not huge information, that's already surpassed off some situations, plus that's the main inexpensive console of the seventh gen. PS3 value cuts have carried out no longer something to benefit purchasers so ppl who might want a PS3 may well be observing getting one now cuz the value is going down $50 from what i be attentive to. PS3 narrow is the 1st re-made form of a console this technology and with the potential brick of a PS3 interior the PS3, it is going to likely be interesting to be sure how plenty slimmer the PS3 gets.
