In Michigan there is a program called Toys for Tots, where you go to local stores and you can donate toys or money to this funding, and then people donate them to the kids that need them. Another cool idea is have the local schools do something to help raise money for toys and then go through and give each person, a certain amount of money have have those kids go shopping for the child the picked out. Like when I was in school, our English class drew up a newspaper and we sold it in school, and took all that money, and put it in a jar, Tots for Tots gave each one of us an age group and a boy or girl, we went to Kmart and Walmart and with the money we were given we purchased a toy, and then Toys for Tots gave it to that child. Good Luck!

contact your local news station let them know the problem and what your doing ask them if they can do piece on it it doesnt need to be a huge time consuming piece just a couple seconds to get the word out there and you wont believe the reaction you will get not only that but after the news airs thats when you make your calls to the diffrent companies to ask for support say my name is_____ and i had a segment on channel___ news last nite i am with ______ and what what we do is collect toys for less fortunate children in the area and we are looking for supporters and donations would you or your company be interested in getting involved and helping out . soon as they here that you where on the news they will jump at the chance to help and not only just to help but just for the sheer chance of getting some good publicity well good luck hope this helps

You have toys for tots that help, one year we did a Xmas party at our neighbors home and we all had to bring a new toy ... that was so much fun and to know that you could help children, I had so much fun I went to the toy store and bought a lot of things, not just one toy. a lot of the stores will not help !!! you have to get your own group going. the big stores only help in other ways and we never really see what they give. I have tried that. we took the toys to our police dept and gave them all the toys, so when a child was in a bad home and needed to be removed they could give them a toy, or if they were in a car accident they would give the child a stuffed toy to love. it was great.

I don't know about any corporations, but you could try talking to the local schools to see if they would help. My high school has always had large fundraisers around Christmas time for similar organizations; last year each department adopted a local needy family and we raised money/bought Christmas presents for them.

instead of looking to other people look at the community...here we have a community christmas project for the local children...
first they throw an auction...local artists donate paintings...hand crafted wood...blankets etc....others donate gift certificates for dinners at restuarants....donations accepted at the door to the auction....w/ this money they usually go around to mom and pop shops and get the business to agree to the gift certificate the child will get...it can be used at many places....and then by april 1st gift cert expire and business turns in the gift cert and they then get their money back...minus $3...so the business gets $7 instead of $10....those are used on the older kids...
for the younger ones....the make hand cut outs and make a christmas tree out of it w/ the gender and age of the person to buy a gift for....$25 dollar maximum....and they stress that this my be the only gift the child gets this year...you hand those up in local businesses and people take a hand...and some take two...the packages then get dropped on in named locations by a certain date....and good to go....and it stays in the community....also if you go to church...you could throw fund raiser dinners....the holidays bring out the greatness in everyone...and everyone will donate....believe in the people and your community to help out....they will be there....
best of luck
