When I was in elementary school, I knew this boy named David. I liked him SO MUCH. He started out as just a friend, and after a couple of years, I started liking him, probably to the point of being in love...
But then he moved to Germany a few years later. I cried for weeks. I had dreams about him every night for months, without fail.
I still have dreams about him occasionally, maybe once or twice a year. The other night I had a dream that he called me. I was so happy to hear from him! I mean, it was the best dream I had in a while...
But why am I STILL thinking about him, four years after he moved? I have a boyfriend that I love very very much, so why does it still hurt to think about David? I mean, I almost cry every time! Why?

It doesn't mean how long. "David" was part of your life. You cannot completely forget about him. That is all.
Dreaming about him could be a desire, or could be a symbol of "love" Whether or not you are still in love with him or if you have a boy friend. That "David" was once in your life, you cannot erase him in your subconscious mind.
As far as after 4 years later, you dreamed about him. That simply because this is about relationship. Once the main thing about relationship or loneliness pops up, your subconscious mind will find someone to remind you and perhaps David could well serve as a symbol to do that.

You have had feelings for this person that you have never been able to act upon. This is one reason why you are still pining over him. We all want something we can't have.
Considering the dream...maybe you have urges for the man in your life now that you are not coming to terms with?
Or, these emotions that you have with him could be stemming from something in your past that is coming up from your Subconcious and being acted out in a dream to get you to pay attention. The fact that you had feelings for this person may have nothing to do with it. It's the emotions that you need to pay attention to and your mind is connecting those memories of David to the emotions and creating a dream?? Maybe you need to think about your emotions and your man and you'll figure it out on your own.

You're dreaming of David because he represents an ideal soulmate to you. (No one is perfect so there is no ideal soulmate out there. Sorry.) Sometimes the grass looks greener on the other side of the world but believe me it needs mowing over there too!

i understand your dream is sad, i have friend also and he move to Greece, and heard from him i cried a lot , but i think you have to forget him , it was mean to be that way .
maybe those feeling were more like a brother to you
