This has been an ongoing Catholic tradition for a very long time and it's deeply entrenched with many followers with the encouragement of the church. Is it right however?
The Bible never mentions that Mary should be worshipped. Only the Almighty should be worshipped through his son, Jesus. Also, the Bible mentions "do not worship false idols." This is one of the Old Testament commandments.
So worshipping the statue of Mary, or any other statue is in direct violation of the Bible and God's word. Too bad many Catholics just follow their leaders like good sheeple and not read the Bible for themselves.

this is not that Catholics worship Mary, yet they supply the impact and visual charm that they worship Mary. whilst a individual sees the Pope kneel down on stay television before a statue of Mary and spend time in prayer, it fairly is an extremely good impact that leads me to have confidence that he's, certainly, worshiping Mary. i comprehend and know that Catholics do _not_ worship Mary, however the visual charm that they do is stressful to triumph over. and this is the reason it fairly is extremely undemanding to make a fact that Roman Catholics worship Mary. If the Catholics have been clever, they might not convey their faith is this type of deceptive way (and that's deceiving, in any different case, why might I make the shown fact that it specific looks like worship to me?). TDs expected from the Catholics extra: this is not significant what you asked for (and no, i do no longer comprehend of everywhere interior the Catechism the place it says that Catholics are to worship Mary). i'm nevertheless left with that impact from commentary.

Why do you American Protestants worship your country with US flags that you salute and idolize with repetitive greetings?
Doesn't that sound foolish?
Well your comments sound foolish to us Catholic Christians.
We do not adore Mary
We do not have idols
Jesus used repetitive prayers(Matt26:44)
Get used to repetive prayers because the saints in Rev 4:8 repeat Holy is the Lord day and night.
God bless and check out Catholic Answers
Get the catechism of the Catholic Church if you really want to find out what Catholicism actually teaches

There comes a point when you've answered the same question so many times, you start to wonder if it's worth the energy to put fingers to keyboard.
Once more: Catholics do NOT worship The Blessed Virgin. We venerate her. Learn the difference.
Have you ever prayed more than once? Said the same words at "grace" before meals? Then you are sinning with repetitive prayer too, boyo.
Just for lagniappe: we pray to saints too. If you ask your friend here on earth to pray for you, why not ask your friends in heaven?
Please go back and tell all your little fundamentalists friends, if you don't think this is too complicated for them to understand.

Dude, read a book. Go to a catholic mass.
Then you can come back, ask the same question and I can ask you what you are smoking.
Only Hispanic catholics worship Mary, and thats becuse they fused her with their Pagan Goddess.
Mary was partially Divine. IF she wasnt god would not have choosen her to Carry his Son. Essentially she was the best human and the furthest from Sin.
That IS in the bible, and that is WHY the catholics have statues of her.Jesus loved his mommy. Do you have a problem with that? Cause he would be Glad to forsake you for being a prick to catholics becuse they love his mommy too.

O'Brien, that sounds like a good catholic name. You must have missed your catechism to think that any catholic following the church's teachings is worshipping mary or the image. Lack of worship means no idolatry.
However, praying to mary is just as misplaced and ineffectual as praying to jesus or mohammed would be.

Well, either we're completely deceived by the evil priests or we're too dumb for words, how's that? Does that fit in with your biased and judgmental viewpoint well enough?
Sorry, but I'm weary of patiently answering this tired old lie over and over again with the truth -- because nobody who posts this really wants to hear it. So enjoy getting the amens from your like-minded brethren. I'm off to pray a rosary for you.

Too many distractions from knowing the truth of God and true salvation.
They may take the "fear of God" literally, and think that it means fearing the devil, but fearing the devil is worshiping evil and not at all trusting the love of God almighty.
Through the fear of God we need not fear anything else!
Jon M,
We need not pray for the dead in heaven.
There are no dead in heaven. In heaven there is only God. All spirits are part of Him and very much never dead.
We became alive and are living because of Him, only because of Him. Trust it.
Although I am critical of Catholicism I am not against Catholics. God loves them. He loves all His creation regardless of their beliefs.
I am not perfect, but I know God, and I trust Him perfectly.

Why do Evangelical Protestants ask repetitive, loaded questions and ignore the answers and explanations they receive? "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour," yeah?

because the terrorists have attakced the land of imagination, thus limiting the prayers that people can think up so they are forced to say the same old crap.
