No. Jesus will come back and rule and reign over the earth for 1,000 years. (but not necessarily on 12-21-12).

The Mayan Calendar is a very close measurment to the measurings of the timeline in the Great Pyramid. You should also study that if you want some real God truths. According to the Great Pyramid the last "marking" on the time line occurs somewhere around 11/11/2011. Due to the differences in large spans of time the Mayan Calendar comes to Dec. 12, 2012. (I think your date is mistaken.) So it would seem that it would be near 11/11/11 or 12/12/12. All other markings on that timeline marked very important events in our worlds history; major wars, natural distasters, etc. There was supposed to be a major event just a few years ago and nothing happend all year until in December, if you remember, a huge earthquake happened that caused a tsunami and the Earth's axis to tilt (only a very little bit though) Why do you think the weather patterns have changed so much so dramatically in the last few years?
Like that other answer says, "no one knows the time when Christ will return." That is the truth, but that doesn't mean that when He returns it will be the end of the world, in fact it will just be the end/beginning for those of us who believe. That could be the end of freedom to express our faith and the rise of the Antichrist. It is coming soon. Quit trying to pinpoint the day and start trying to pinpoint the reason.

Like all calendars, including our own Gregorian calendar, the Mayan calendar is simply a man-made contrivance to keep track of seasons, primarily for agricultural purposes. It can no more predict the future than tea leaves at the bottom of a cup. Don't worry about it. The world will end when it ends, probably in a couple of billion years after the sun burns out, and I wouldn't change my investment strategies over that.

I assure you that the world will not end on December 21, 2012. In the book of Revelation, it tells us about a period of a thousand years of peace. Has this occurred already since the time of Jesus? Not yet. That will still come.
But there is something that is certain—and that is our physical death. It may come when least expected. We do not know the day and the hour. It will come like a thief in the night. So we just have to be prepared all the time. Search for the true God and when we find Him, follow His commandments and remain in Him until our last dying breath.
This is all that we have to do. It is faith in Him that we can take with us when we depart from this world. If we deny Him, He will deny us also before the Father in Heaven. If we know Him and love Him and followed His commandments, then He may reward us to live with Him eternally in His kingdom in Heaven.

I think you are asking for an opinion here.
Personally yes.
I am not sure about the exact date thing but we will know in a few months if not two years.
See the youtube on Planet X and sitchen on the 12th Planet.
Some believe there is an object approaching us that is an elliptical orbit planet attached to our solar system and comes by to disrupt things every 3600 years. If this is true we will see earth quakes increase and storms etc.
It also sounds like the type of things Jesus alluded to.
The ancient Mayans seemed to have celestial knowledge beyond normal eye sight possibilities.
The ancient Sumerians were civilization started had the same. Putting it together we have the idea it was given to them from another race not of this world.
Yes something is happening.

Really couldn't say.
My gut reaction is no, though. I don't feel an ending coming on. I feel a new beginning.
I'm also of the opinion that saying any date is going to be "The End Of The World" is just a bit melodramatic and exaggerated.
Even if 2012 ends up being the end of humanity (which I highly doubt), the world will still be here, as it does not depend upon our existence for it's own.

No. For one thing, for the Mayan civilization, the calendar already ended many years ago - they are no longer a cohesive culture, power and system.
Secondly, that is simply as far as they chose to make their calendar go - they couldn't possibly have made it go into eternity. Neither can we, for that matter, - but that doesn't mean the world is going to end on any given day.
Just live your life and enjoy it, and don't worry about the end of the world.

It doesn't say the world will end in December of 2012. The calendar simply ends then. The world will be in a drastically different state when; a meteor hits us, we nuke ourselves extinct, Andromeda colliding with the Milky Way, or when the sun burns out and leaves us nice and frigid.

I know what movie you saw!
If I remember correctly, there are several cultures, through out the world, that have that same date for the world to end.
My guess is: Mammoths were flash frozen many tears ago, & their meat was still good after 1000's of years of being frozen.
With that in mind-There is this thing called Global Warming that leads to an ice age-sooooo!!!
Maybe we all will have to wait & see & at my age (62) I may not be here to know.
