Instead of getting a chemical laxative, which can be very harsh on your system, try buying a natural fiber supplement and some bran cereal.
The higher the fiber in the cereal the better.
Prune juice is very helpful also, if you can get it down. It tastes pretty bad.
This will be much easier on your system and solve your problem.
I used ex-lax once, and it was painful and kept me in the bathroom for hours.

Dulcolax tablets, easy to take and effective overnight.
To avoid constipation in the future, take sodium docusate (aka DOSS) daily it's also available over the counter, it keeps your stools soft by drawing water into the bowel, you do need to drink a lot of water for it to work however.

You mean a laxative? Ask your pharmacist which is best...thankfully I don't tend to need them.
No using it for weightloss though, that's unhealthy and dangerous.
