does anyone truely believe there can be peace b/ween muslims and non-muslim through out the world?

considering the core belief of islam .that we either ( non-muslim) convert or be destroyed. how can there ever be peace between muslims and any other religous group wether it be the jewish orthadox the baptist ,catholic or any other group that is not willing to convert to the religion of islam? how can there ever be peace and coexistence with a religion whose goal is to conquer and convert the whole world to islam and destroy those that are unwilling to convert?

in the short time this question was post i recieved a lot of responses ten with in 1 minute time .obvisouly this is a subject of a lot of dicussion .i'm new and sure how to respond or rate answers but i'll learn . but again my ? is how can there be peace and what is the path to the peace that some of you believe is possible?

This is christian who started attacking muslim land from 250 years, we were already in peace with the whole world.

I do. I'm Muslim and no the main goal of Islam is not to kill non Muslims. Muslims have to treat non Muslims with respect especially true Christians(those who don't worship Jesus peace be upon him) and Jews(non Zionists) as Jews and true Christians as mentioned above are people of the book meaning the Jews got the Torah from all the Prophets up to Moses(PBUT*) and the true Christians got the Injeel(bible) from Jesus(PBUH*). Muslims just want to be left alone and live in peace without having to worry about the USA or the West forcing democracy and invading their countries and trying to forcefully convert them. When the Muslim empire was around for 600-700 years Muslims, Jews and Christians lived side by side with each other in peace. It was the Muslims who allowed the Jews back into Palestine after they were thrown out by the Christian crusade people.

It may be possible if Muslims follow only the Qu'ran without all the hadiths and everything else it's supplemented with.

I'm starting to believe that the Qu'ran was created mainly for the cultures with tribal mentality and warring factions.

IF you look where Islam's origins is focused, it was focused where the inhabitants were of nomadic tribes who plundered and were at war with other tribes. Some were peaceful and others wanted to conquer.

...just a thought.

I have a lot of Muslim friends and I get along with them very well. Not all are bigots.

You could read that book called, "Every Muslim is not a Terrorist, But why is every Terrorist a Muslim?"

I think there is a conflict involving Muslims in every part of the World. There's Kashmir where they are driving out or murdering the non-Muslims, there is Serbia where Christian Monasteries are being burnt down and nuns being raped, we have Philippines, Bali in Indonesia, the Bamiyan Buddhas that were destroyed by the Taliban, the Turkish-Armenian conflict, Chechen-Russian conflict, US Al-Qaida conflict, conflict with Israel. I keep reading such news.

I don't see much peace in the near future.

dear its not like that
those ppl think they will go to heaven but only if they kill the enemy of god after trying to convince him to be a Muslim or the jeziah ( peacefully statement to stay under Islam rules & protection & pay tax u can pray do what ever u want with out offending Islam )
thats the way it goes they are mistaken or have a weak Islam because god said dont kill a woman an old man or a child in the Islamic wars read the history u will see

The Quran states quite clearly that if you kill 1 innocent person it's like you have killed the whole of mankind. The Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) said that "if a non-muslim is harmed unjustly then it is like you have harmed ME"

So as you can see, it doesn't matter where you come from, your ethnicity, your background or religious beliefs, the important thing is how God sees you, and that my friend, is what you should always focus on!

The true nature of islam is to enslave the world to its belief system (clearly evidenced by the acts of its practitioners).

I also believe that islam is the greatest single threat/evil that mankind has ever had to face.

I don't think Muslims and non-Muslims are at war. The real war is between Muslims and Muslims. Can't you see?
