because they could hijack a train and run it into the whitehouse.

The White House is safe from attack by train. The rest of us are not.

Those in the industry have been screaming about the lack of security on America's railroads. Turning a train into a very effective weapon is much easier than any would think. All it takes is the knowledge necessary and a few tools available at your local hardware store, as well as two or three motivated individuals.

10 carloads of liquefied petroleum gas or chlorine (380,000 gallons) can really screw up one's day when they blow the hell out of a town or suffocate its citizens.

You are correct. They should have much higher security where any trains are involved. It doesn't have to be a large derailment to do the damage. The deed can be done while the train is standing still...

Obviously you are American. If I am not mistaken the Railway Station in Washington DC is quite some way from the Presidential House. Trains run on things called Railway Tracks, I think it would be a bit obvious when the Hijackers started to lay a railway line to the front lawn of the whitehouse.

Are there tracks outside the white house??

And why have you posted this on the UK site? We don't give a stuff about the White House. Now you could have said

"They (whoever "THEY" are) could hijack a train and plough it into Downing Street or The House Of Commons"

To which I would have replied, slacken security on British Trains, GET LABOUR OUT!!

I been to DC and there is no rails going to the white house.

And trust me, the guards around the White house do not play around.

However, Union Station is part of the local subway system and part of a mall as well. And I don't know what buildingss those rail go under.

A few people on an Amtrak with special vests and a death wish would cause some panic, but beyond that, I don't know.

hello

i live in the uk but i am sure there is not a public train line that goes right to the whitehouse and even if it did it is not exactly going to smash through the white house is it because the train line would not come into contact with the building itself

it would kind of hard to hijack a train
as there is no way from the passenger compartments to
the engine, plus they have zillions controls
along the tracks, and there are no tracks anywhere near
the white house, so that idea is out
remember trains need to have track and rail to run
off (well unless you think the train can jump off the tracks
and onto the sidewalk!

NOPE!!! Trains have systems on them to prevent them passing a signal at danger or going faster than they should etc etc. I am from the uk and fit, upgrade and test these systems as my job. Your trains are quite safe so im off to finish my spliff.
