Try keeping the mouth shut after you have licked you lips. I haven't bought or used chapstick since I was 11(now 25). It's free but takes about one to 3 days of healing(more or less if you heal fast). Don't always look to a product for relief since the body does everything for you already, just give it Time.
If you need some sort of chapstick, try to avoid flavoured, as these infame the senses and can lead you to think you keep needing to reapply and buy.

You might want to try something natural instead of petro-chemical products.
Solid vegetable oils, such as coconut, palm kernal and shea butter work best to heal dry lips and keep them from drying back out. Just rub a little on, it's real easy.
Liquid vegetable oils are also great for natural lip gloss and protection
If your skin had a choice, I'm sure it would choose to be fed vegetable oils rather than petro-chemicals.

I swear by Blistex. I can't live with out it. Its sold at major drug stores and grocery stores. Its only a dollar and it comes it a blue circular container. It prevents your lips from getting chapped and provides fast relief for chapped lips. Blistex is great, you should try it.
