Many of you are saying that Tony Stewart should be loyal to Chevy. What about being loyal to the man who is responsible for helping him get two championships? I don't have an opinion one way or the other, as I'm not in his shoes. But I do know that I generally value relationships with people over relationships with inanimate objects.

Tony needs to do what is best for Tony. I'm sure he is as loyal to Joe Gibbs as he is to Chevy and Home Depot his main sponsor.. Racing is a business and a its a living...I'm sure Tony will do what is best for Tony...Right now, its like he has said on his radio show...he is in the chase and that is his main focus right now... This will give us something to look forward to in the off season...

Well Tony Stewart is locked into a contract with Joe Gibbs Racing and it's up to the team owners when there is a manufactures change, not drivers. Drivers don't get to choose what make they wish to race every year.

Toyota offered a lot of money for Joe Gibbs to sign with them, and well thats all I need to say about that.

Tony Stewart will still be a championship contending driver, he will not struggle. The other Toyota teams are struggling right now because they are all underfunded new race teams. They don't have the resources that Joe Gibbs Racing has.

...Sometimes people can be the best of friends and have different opinions. If you are referring to the change to RCR then I would say that he is valuing their friendship by not announcing the reason he is leaving (that is provided the rumor is actually true).

...If there was a clause in the contract that Tony preferred to race GM cars then they should have stuck with GM cars. I'm sure Tony wouldn't blame Joe Gibbs for his decision and Joe wouldn't blame Tony for his.

...Tony wanted to drive Chevys because that is what most top teams are running. He knew he could compare himself and his team against the top teams by using the same equipment.

Be loyal to yourself. Gibbs, GM (Pontiac and Chevy), and Home Depot were all very good to him in his NASCAR career. If he feels that Gibbs has made a poor choice to go with Toyota then he should leave when his contract it up. Its just business and you always do whats best for you. We saw the same thing with Kyle Bush getting booted for Dale Jr by Hendrick.

I agree. I can understand someone being aprehensive about leaving a proven winning car and going to Toyota but he should show some loyalty to the owner who brought him into NASCAR and made him a winner.

On the other hand, would the owners show the same loyalty to the drivers? Granted they are not as bad as the owners of say a football or basketball team, but.....

One point that hasn't been made is fan loyalty to manufactures. Many Nascar fans have an unfavorable opinion of the way Toyota is operating in Nascar.

Tony has to weigh how he believes his fans will react to his driving a Toyota. I like Tony but will cease to root for him if he leaves Chevrolet. I don't care for the way Toyota is buying their way in Nascar. Joe Gibbs has sold out Chevrolet. They are already helping toyota with chevy technology. Yes I know they deny that just as they denied they would go to toyota. They have a contract with chevy and can be sued if they admit any help to toyota at this time.

Toyota has a billion dollar commitment to win 25% of Nascar races and they will succeed but that doesnt mean we all have to like them for doing it.

I think in this case he must feel that Gibbs has violated a trust he had with Chevy, sellouts prolly aren't high on his list. He has huge interest in Chevy as Eldora owner and all the cars, sponsors hold just as high a price as owners do, with out sponsors you don't go race do ya?

Loyalty is good, but this is business. Stewart should do whatever he thinks is best for his career. Gibbs, Toyota, Chevy and everyone else in between - they all do what they believe is best for them.

It's all in the paycheck with most drivers. Look at other sports and you see the same thing. I was going to say look at J. Gordon and Hendricks, but didn't Roush give Gordon his break in Bush and then he jumped to Hendricks for the big bucks. Loyalty is nothing.
