--IF IS a very good word , because the if (as an immortal thing put into us) is not based on Bible teachings but of ancient teachings from Egypt, Bablyon, Greece,Rome etc. and reinvigorated into the religions of Christendom which had it start about 300 A.D.!
--IF SOMETHING was put in us that is immortal, THEN that identical thing would have to take place with , fish, frogs, elephants, whales, AND anything else that is described as "living souls, .(can you imagine the number of flying souls that would be floating around in heaven somewhere before they took on a frogs life etc.)----BECAUSE of what is stated here:
Genesis 1:21 (Darby Translation)
21 "And God created the great sea monsters, and every LIVING SOUL* (my caps) that moves with which the waters swarm, after their kind, and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good"
(Genesis 1:21) NWT 21 And God proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul* that moves about, which the waters swarmed forth according to their kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind. And God got to see that [it was] good. . ."
*** Footnote *** Gen. 1:21
“Living soul.” Heb., ne′phesh ha·chai·yah′, sing.; Gr., ψυχὴν ζῴων (psy·khen′ [sing.] zoi′on [pl.], “soul of living ones”).
--PLEASE NOTE THE similar reference of the word ne'phesh (Hebr) psykhen(Grk) is used similarly to both animals, bird, fish as is used in Adam becoming a 'living soul"
Gen. 2:7 Darby Translation
7 "And Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul"
(Genesis 2:7) NWT 7 And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.
*** Footnote *** Rbi8 Genesis 2:7
“A living soul [breathing creature].” Heb., lene′phesh chai·yah′; Gr., ψυχὴν ζῶσαν (psy·khen′ zo′san, “living soul”); Lat., a′ni·mam vi·ven′tem. See 1:20, 21, 30; 1Co 15:45; App 4A.
ILLUSTRATING THAT the soul can be distinguesd as alive or dead is when airplane piolots are asked "HOW MANY LIVING SOULS" are on the passanger list(this is how the question was asked of every commercial piolet in the past)
--THE FACT that the person as a soul can die is scriptural:
(Ezekiel 18:4) . . .Look! All the souls—to me they belong. As the soul of the father so likewise the soul of the son—to me they belong. The soul that is sinning—it itself will die.
*** Rbi8 pp. 1573-1574 4A “Soul”—A Living Creature, Human or Animal; Life as an Intelligent Person; Other Uses
**Heb., שפנ (ne′phesh); Gr., ψυχή (psy·khe′); Lat., a′ni·ma
--In the Hebrew Scriptures the Hebrew word ne′phesh occurs 754 times, first in Ge 1:20. The New World Translation consistently renders it “soul” and in each case it proves understandable in the light of its context. The use of this one Hebrew word in many different contexts helps us to ascertain the basic idea inherent in the word as the Bible writers used it, namely, that it is a person, an individual, or a lower creature; or, the life that a person or an animal enjoys as such. This is totally different from what the ancient Egyptians, Babylonians, Greeks and Romans religiously and philosophically called a soul.
--In the Christian Greek Scriptures the Greek word psy·khe′ occurs by itself 102 times, first in Mt 2:20. This includes Eph 6:6 and Col 3:23, where it is in the expression “whole-souled.” Additionally it is used in many compound Greek words such as in Php 2:2, 19; 1Th 5:14. The New World Translation consistently renders psy·khe′ as “soul.” This uniform rendering by the same English word proves very enlightening as to how the inspired writers used psy·khe′ and what properties they ascribed to it.
--To aid in understanding the uses of “soul,” we have grouped below, under various headings, texts where “soul” occurs.

John 1:13-14 tells us we were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us. The same as the story of the tares. and Luke 11:24-26.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment.
Luke 12:22-23
And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Matt 10:28
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. John 3:8
What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. But there are some of you that believe not. John 6:62-64
And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled. Rev 6:9-11
And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Rev 7:13-14
The souls of the tribulation are from the time of Jesus, the souls of the great tribulation are from 1680 until 1960 AD.
We are spirit just living in a body, a house that our Father provided for us so that we spirits may enjoy the things of the physical world.
Believe in Jesus, for He said "I have foretold you all things."
