I am an employer at a somewhat "casual" place- I go for the best applicant by the personal interview- not just what is on paper, but a resume says that you are serious about finding a job- It would tell me that I am not the only employer you are talking to, and that if I want to hire you, there may be competition- Honestly..... it doesn't matter if it says anything in it or not- it just shows "effort".....
If you are looking for a more "professional" job- then yes, the resume makes all the difference in the world!

No one is going to want to hire you if you "don't offer anything special"! You need to think about what skills you have that would benefit them company, and portray that to them. Even though you have been a cashier, you can still have unique skills, like interpersonal skills, accuracy with your drawer, etc. Submit a resume!

Resumes are absolutely crucial ESPECIALLY since they asked for one. If you don't have a resume or have never written one, they are quite easy to write. If you have Word, go to "file", then, "new", "template", then, "resumes" and just follow the promptings. If you don't have word, google "resume templates".
Read the job description that you are applying for and put ANY relevant experience you may have through school or work.

If you have an application it's not necessary. If you want to stand out or highlight job skills you have that you haven't gotten from your cashiering jobs, then you may want to include a resume.

Resumes are always a plus for an employer. It shows initiative.
You don't have anything to offer? So you can't offer skills in customer service, management, work ethics, etc?
