This web site claims that Muhammad married a six year old and started having sex with her at nine...I want to know if this is true and if so what you think of it?

Now I am confused. One Muslim said he did not have sex with a nine year old and then the one after said he did. Can we have a quote maybe from some Muslim book on this ? I do appreciate your answers.

By the way no one is talking hate here we are trying to get the facts. I do think we hate the rhetoric of people who say " I will cut off your head if you disagree." In Canada that is a hate crime and you go to jail. Let's be nice give us the facts.

I really wonder why this topic is always used to bash Mohamed and his message by westerners, while it was very common in the Arabic countries that a girl got married after having period ,no matter how old is she?the difference in culture,traditions and time should be taken seriously when discussing such a topic to be just ....
also bear in the mind that girls 1400 years ago became mature and responsible at earlier ages than girls in our time...
childhood ended at younger age than 18!
who decided that a girl or a boy of 17 is still a child nowadays...and why girls and boys are raised to be children!!
raise your child to be responsible from child hood and he/her would be that responsible man/woman!

Volume 7, Book 62, Number 88:
Narrated 'Ursa:
The Prophet wrote the (marriage contract) with 'Aisha while she was six years old and consummated his marriage with her while she was nine years old and she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).
and notice that Aisha was engaged to another man before prophet Mohamed:

nowadays girls in many Arab countries get married after 18 or even after finishing their studies at the university 22-24...but still few girls get married at 14 or15... the time is different now from 1400 years ago...and i think that we can not compare..
nowadays, i even see that a girl or a boy who is 22 is still behaving like a child and can not take responsibility of her/himself rather than having a family...and this indicates a great failure in raising children!
to me I see that earlier marriage prevents rape accidents and sexual relationships out of marriage...I think that we are in real danger because the age of marriage is increasing every year and the number of singles also increases , which threatens the whole society..

Interesting question:
I read the Muslim version sue put up before answering my own idea. I wish more Muslims would have answered this question. It seems to me it is easier to threaten with harm those who disagree rather then enter into this type of debate. However the Muslim interpreter of the now seemingly factual event makes some rather unscholarly arguments.
First he tells us the motives of Muhammad. If not stated by Muhammad his guess is as good as anyone else. You can not know a motive without a clear statement and even then actions speak louder then words.
Secondly: Girls mature earlier in hot climates? Really. Age 21 in cold climates. Find me one girl who started her period at 21. Yeh. I have doubts about the whole interpretation.
Having sex with a nine year old at any time in history is suspect. I have studied ancient history extensively and I have never seen this thought expounded on. Therefore where is the historical records that it was norm?
I just don't feel good about it.
As a father of three girls and now a grandfather of a nine year old it makes me rather sick.
But I guess we all have the answer... it is true...

Prophet and messenger of God Muhammad bin Abdullah married Sydatina Aishah binti Abu Bakar to be close to his assistant Saidina Abu Bakar Al-Siddiq. Muhammad is bachelor after the death of Sydatina Khalijah the first wife. The newest religion Islam just come into Muhammad. Abu Bakar and Family are the first to convert to Islam. Muhammad cannot marrried any other women at that time because they are none Muslim. Muhammad married Sauda bt Zam'a after the death of the first wife Sydatina Khalijah. Muhamad was with khadijah for 28 years. Muhammad married Sauda because she's a Muslim and was in the Pilgrim to Abysinia and under the protection of the Christian King Najasyi. The "engagement" to Sydatina Aishah binti Abd Bakar was at the age of nine is merely to be close to Abu Bakar his close assistant in bringing up Islam. The period of the engagement took two years. Muhammad married Sydatina Ashiah binti Abu Bakar at the age of eleven.

in Sirilanka until now when the girl 1 get her period no matter at what age she is ready to get married so what he did is his friend have a daughter & he want her to be raised with the profit so he gave her to him & they got married & when she had her perioud they got married (sex) so thats the story he never raped her she stayed with him until he die & it was an owner for her thats the whole story man they use to get married after they have their period so thats its fair there was nothing wrong .

Yes, it's true that he "married" a six year old child (a "gift from allah").

The sex part is just far, far too disgusting to address. And illegal in every civilized country.

muslims will say that she was "mature" for her age. And, that it wasn't that unusual of a practice "way back then". Apologists one and all. And, they go full throttle on the deceit and deception concerning this particular question.

Muslim haters keep making such web sites just to do false propaganda against Muslims and Messenger to defame Islam. Such people keep asking the same question over and over. Mohammad SAW married a decent woman nameed Khadijah who was 15 yeas older than Mohammad. He loved her deeply and never married another woman until she died at age 65. Mohammad did marry Aesha at age 7, not because he needed a little girl for sex. God ordered him in dreams three nights and commanded him to marry Aesha. He told the dream to her father Abu Bakar who was the best friend and associate of Prophet of God Mohammad SAW. Aesha stayed in her father's home until she had her first period at age 9, and then she moved to Mohammad's house.

This was norm in Arab culture those days. Prophet Mohammad himself married his own daughters like that and sent them to their husbands at nine or ten soon after their first periods. Even today in Arabs age difference has no importance. You judge Arab society of 1400 years ago with US Statutary Rape Laws of today. That seems foolish to me.

Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) didn't have sex with Aesha until she was old enough to know about sex and desired herself. Her own statement is recorded in the books of Ahadiths by the scholars who collected sayings of Prophet, his wives and companions.
God gave Aesha a photographic memory and she was the most intelligent woman amongst all females of her age. God put her in Mohammad's house so she is raised with the Last Messenger of God to be trained as a model Muslim wife, the way God wants all Muslims females to be raised by their parents. She remembered every word Prophet said and evey thing she saw Prophet doing in his household. How Mohammad lived and treated women had to be known to all Muslims as a model husband for his wives. Aesha lived longer than all his wives and died at age 80. She taught Islam to even Scholars of Muslims from behind the curtain. She explained difficult Ayahs of Quran that even learned Muslims did not understand the in depth meanings. This was the purpose of God to palce her in the house of Prophet of Muslims.
A Muslim can not have a female in his house that is not married to her unless she is daughter, sister, mother, mother law or wife of son. These women are Mehrams with whom a Muslim can not marry and can not even think of being interested emotionally. Aesha was not Mehram and to show Muslims what kind of husband Mohammad was, God had to make her wife of Mohammad SAW.

Read the statement of Aesha written in ahadith. I read it myself and writing here to be read by non-Muslims. I am vey devout Muslims at age 64 and I do not lie about my religion. Here is the story how Aesha expressed her desire to have her husband Mohammad SAW to consumate he marriage. .
She asked Prophet in these words,

She was indirectly referring the Profit's visit to the rooms of his other wives (who were all widows). She must have learned what her husband and his other wives do privately when he visit them in their rooms. As a Model Prophet and man Mohammad SAW had to visit every wife on their turn to be fair with them. Her recorded statement doesn't tell how old was she when she said the above words. I assume she was old enough to have the desire of consumating her marriage.

How Prophet treated his wives had to be a public record so Muslims learn how to treat their wives. Also Muslim women had to learn how good wives of Prophet were. I will write about his wives some other day because my answer is already too long as usual.
