What you should do is take a good photo of the rug and take that with you to the paint store. Pick out a few colors that you like and the get sample cans mixed. Benjamin Moore sells little sample cans already mixed at some retailers and Home Depot (ugh!) sells samples of Ralph Lauren paint. Get some samples and paint some 24"x24" squares on the walls to see what looks best. It is pretty difficult to suggest colors without really seeing what you have to work with.

greens and burgandy goes well together just go to a paint store with a sample of the carpet and have them help you , benjamin moore stores have good decorators , you could also try a nice grey shade this would look good with burgandy and black, pick up some sample pots if you can and paint a patch on the wall that way you can see if you like it or not.

With dark rugs and furniture you really want to lighten up the walls so you dont feel that you are living in a cave. You can go with cream, light grey or even a very, very light pink shade.

I'd say keep it quiet neutral, and it'll look great. If you're going with a colour like green, which can be risky, get a few sample pots and paint a fair amount of each on the wall. Maybe you could have a contrast between the wall colour & accessories?

A light Mocha would look very nice. My loft has almost the identical colored rugs as you describe but I have very deep brown leather furniture... almost black at first glance... looks very nice. I think the color at the paint store was hazelnut or something like that but it looks like a beige base with a dark brown mix. Very nice.

choose a deep golden yellow or close to bronze, you can always use faux finish and make it cream burgundy black and bronze with glazes.. I think it would look great with your black furniture. It takes longer and costs more but the results are worth the work

For a contemporary look: moss or sage green.
For a country feel: tan or a pale yellow.
for a modern feel: gray
