I'm doing a lot of soul searching at the moment, I feel I would benefit from some spiritual insight... The trouble is, which path to choose? I really want to feel closer to something, I'm not conventually religious, so I do not want to follow that route. But I feel like I should be by the sea, I keep dreaming of being there (in with my nightmares) How do you know where your spiritual path lies? I feel very human and full of regrets right now..

Follow your heart... if you listen with an open mind and heart, it will lead you where you want to go... Don't discount religions as they may lead you to the right path...The key is - if something "calls" to you, you are on track... just don't assume that all religions are bad. Pay attention to EVERYTHING around you... you will see signs if you pay attention. Read books of all kinds and when you find something in them that ressonates in the core of your being, you'll know that you are on the right track... Books that I've read that helped... Jesus and Mastership, The Course in Miracles, Emmanuel's Book: A Manual for Living Comfortably in the Cosmos...

These are the ones I enjoyed and am enjoying... I also read the bible, but I do so with a metaphysical Bible Dictionary to help in translation... these are my opinions. Good luck!

Another option, reading answers on here may give you added insight to how members think and beleive... if you see something that strikes a cord or that you are curious about, ASK!

When I dream of the sea it probably means something different than when you dream of it. What does the sea represent to you? Symbolically? And if you have an idea as to what you believe but not what to call it try searching for the Belief-o-Matic quiz on Yahoo! and take it. Its just 20 general questions about what you believe and when the quiz is finished it lists the faits you most closely idenfity with. Then take the top three or so and find books on them. (you could always come back here and ask us which books would be best for any given faith, that way you don't end up reading one that is bias or incorrect in some other way) Maybe that could help give you some direction.

Choosing "spirituality" isn't supposed to be as if you were in the market for a new house or trying to decide if you should wear a carnation or a rose in your lapel, or choosing whatever church is by the sea regardless of what they teach rather then go to a simple church that is held in a basement where the teachings is True....

"Sprituality" should be straight from the heart...NOT the mind.... and is not a FAD to try out, discard, then try another and another and another...

There is only one TRUE Spirit....and the "spirituality" you speak of does not have Him.

Regrets are so human. Only the very simple minded and un-self-aware don't have them. The trick is not to let them get the better of you. If you can't forgive yourself for those things you regret and move on, you're gonig to be victim to them forever.

I would say, find a church you like, worship with your brothers and sisters, then pray by the ocean as often as you want.

I think most people go through this type of thing when you are truly looking for "yourself". I read everything I could get my hands on and my beliefs grew and changed over the years until I got where I am today and have been the last 10 years.

No regrets, move on. After doing research, maybe you need to visit the ocean, it may only be a yearning.

The one that writes that to see the Kingdom of God, you must be born from above.

That is spiritual birth.

It seems that you are in the valley of decision.

When we rebel, hardness of conscience happens. So? This is also being dead or blinded spiritually. Where we are a body, soul & dead spirit. Dead in our trespasses & sins. The wages of sin is death.

So? God so loved the world that He sent His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.

Jesus shed His Blood on the cross of Calvery for remission of our sins. He paid for our sins. So? To be born of the Spirit we need to receive the atonement for the remission of our sins. We need to realize that we are a sinner needing a Savior.

Jesus said that He Is the Way, the Truth & the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.

Try reading God's Word, the Bible, dear one. Start with the New Testament. That will give you lots of insight into what you're seeking.

God bless you!

Ask Jesus, He will answer you. Only the blood of Jesus erases our sins because HE PAID THE PRICE OF OUR SINS BY DYING IN OUR PLACE. I use to have many regrets and now the only regret I have, is that I did not turn from my sins and receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior sooner. When we do this, God gives us the Holy Spirit, God Himself!

Listen to your heart. I myself am Christian. But I am no one to say my religion is the right one. Just follow whatever path your heart tells you to.
