So I got pulled over, I had my license and registration ready, he went back to his vehicle....didn't say "do you know why I pulled you over?" He just asked for license registration...then came back minutes later and said "My radar gun caught you going 76mph in a 55mph. I just need you to sign here that you understand.blahblahh, You have 10 days to comply, here is the court address."
The total fine was $159. But it had a bunch of additional charge bull crap on it. Fine: $67, MCARE: $35, E.M.S. $25 and some others on there which I have no idea what those additional charges are.
I wasn't reckless driving, it was a 2-lane highway, maybe 2 cars on the road within 1/4 mile of me. I want to dispute the citation but no Phone Number was provided or a scheduled date. He just said 10 days which I doubt is accurate or logged.
I want to reschedule the court date for another week or two to lessen the chances that the cop will actually show, and the citation will be dismissed.
Advice?

Say I go to court (hoping that he doesnt show up) and he does show up, and has proof of me speeding and what not. I will always plead No Contest, but in the event that I do lose, will any additional charges/record issues be added? or is it worth a try, nothing to lose situation?

Plead your case before the Judge. The Officer will be there.

First bit of advice is to hire a lawyer. I once heard a police officer say that 9 out of 10 people who represent themselves in traffic court admit their guilt in the first minute. An example is going to court and saying "The reason why I was going so fast is because........". A lawyer would be able to tell you not to ever admit that you were speeding or that you did not know your speed. Also, a lawyer would be able to look at everything and figure out where the holes are and attack there.
Next up, to reschedule, contact the court clerk and see what you need to do about that. If you cannot find the number on the ticket then go to the phonebook and find the number that way.
Something else, a ticket is not always automatically dismissed when a cop does not show up. Sometimes the entire thing is rescheduled. Do not make that your only strategy.
The reason why they ask "Do you know why I pulled you over?" is to get you to admit your guilt. If you say, "Well, I was going a little too fast back there.", then that can be used against you in court. The police officer is not required to ask this question.

Contact the court if you wish to contest the ticket. However nothing you have said appears to be grounds for contesting the ticket.
1. "didn't say "do you know why I pulled you over?" - Does not have to. Not required. You found out in the end.
2. "The total fine was $159. But it had a bunch of additional charge bull crap on it." - I am not sure why the fine was broken down in this manner, however it may be the way the fine is specified. The court should be able to explain it to you.
3. "I wasn't reckless driving," - The ticket did not say you were reckless driving, it says you were speeding.
Look at the back of the ticket. Some answers may be there.
In many states if you do not subpoena the officer he does not even have to show. He has already submitted his written testimony to the court (the citation)

Call your courthouse and ask for the traffic court desk. You can try to reschedule if you want, but he'll still show. And you'll still have to pay $159. As David said, there is nothing in Conducting a Traffic Stop 101, that says the officer is required to ask why he or she pulled you over. All that tactic really does is get you to tell him what you did wrong, so why are you upset about it? If you are planning on "fighting" the ticket, he helped you out. By all means, get a lawyer and spend the legal fees for him/her to represent you. Then you can pay the lawyer and the court.

Sounds like you were speeding. Pay the ticket. With only 2 cars in area at the time, I find it hard not to distinguish which one was going 76 mph. As far as the fine, all tickets have those "additional charges" incorporated in there.

howdy Mach, Hate to break your day, yet i think of youre screwed guy... Ive usually long previous in the previous judges on site visitors tickets (im a consultant speeder) and had many surpassed over for quite a few motives. difficulty is, your license says which you REQUIRE corrective lenses for using - it doesnt say which you require them purely for journeys longer than 10 blocks. So, through fact your license says you REQUIRE them, you're required to positioned on them no count how short the jaunt is... I had the same subject on my bike - i became attempting to bump start up it by potential of pushing it down the line and them leaping on and popping the seize. I stay to tell the story a reasonable downgrade and that i didnt have my helmet on through fact it became warm and that i had to push the difficulty decrease back up hill. A cop certainly stopped me for no longer having a helmet even nevertheless I technically wasnt even using the difficulty - the wheels have been on the commonplace public street and that i became sitting on it. fortuitously, i became able to talk the ****** out of writing me a value ticket for it... good success guy. Sorry to pay attention...identification a minimum of flow to court docket, say youre responsible and then ask for a relief in fines. they'll do this...

The court date is not set. You have 10 days to notify the courts by 'mail' that you would like a court appearance.
Once they receive the request, they set a date & time and mail it back to you, allow 2-4 weeks for most.
Good Luck.
