How many of today's feral thugs on the streets were sent to Sunday school and how many were taught (wrongly) by their atheist parents that Jesus' teachings don't matter?
I bet most of the feral kids never attended Sunday school or church in their lives.

There are many kids who go to church and then become thugs. Feral is not the right word to use. Feral would indicate the person is more animal than person. That kind of thinking is very dangerous and has led to some pretty horrible actions in the past.
Do some research and you will find that church does not guarantee a person will grow up to be good. In fact, many people find their reasons to commit crime from what they learned in church. People attacking those of different religions or attacking homosexual people are pretty good examples. There are many people who go to church and are very christian but are also very evil people.
Also, you are making an assumption that an atheist is a bad person. Some of the more upstanding people I know are atheists. In fact, I have heard that the ratio of atheists in prison do not correspond to the ratio of atheists not in prison. What I am saying is that a person in prison is more likely to be religious than an atheist.

Where I live, most of the thugs did indeed go to church every Sunday until they were big enough to resist Mama's or Grandma's discipline. Many grew up in an impoverished home without a father figure, with an adult who did not value education or achievement. I suspect those factors had far more influence than religion or lack of it.
I don't believe religious teaching has much to do with who turns out to be a decent person.
I also don't believe you understand the meaning of "feral." There are very few feral children in the entire world. There are extensive records on those few who were rescued and various attempts to "tame" them, most of limited success at best.

75% percent of America identifies as Christian and equally 75% of prison inmates say they were raised as Christians.
However, Roughly 10% of America's population is Atheist and less than 1% of the prison population identifies as Atheist, your assumption is wrong.
The problem is the Christians that don't really practice Christianity. Most of them don't really go to church or truly practice the tennets of their beliefs. This does not make them practicing Atheists.
Atheists have strict moral and ethical codes, which they pass on to their children. The Bible was not the first book to ever talk about being good to people and living ethically. Atheists believe that good is -is good does and that being moral is its own reward. Atheists don't need the fear of punishment to be decent human beings.
Per capita Atheists have higher educations levels, earn more money and have the lowest crime rates of any group.

Actually, dear one, churches are growing at a phenomenal rate of speed! Particularly non-denominational churches such as Calvary Chapel. The fellowship I attend has outgrown it's building twice and now has to have 3 services to accommodate everyone, as well as home groups.
So your idea of "feral kids" is kinda moot. While there have always been gangs and thugs, they don't equal the amount of wonderful kids who love Jesus.
God bless!

I'm just trying to figure out what you're talking about ...
"feral: refers to an individual or population that has returned to the wild after a history of domestication." Are you talking about "reformed" criminals who return to a life of crime?
We're not talking about Lord of the Flies, here.
I've known a few thugs, and all of them believed in God. Most of them believed at one time that the crimes they were committing were justified, because they represented and protected their people. Most also felt that God was the only salvation they had from their dangerous, cyclical lives.
That said, they didn't all believe in the same God.
Also, it sounds as if you're implying that church, and a Christian (trinity) God, have a direct correlation with the moral capability of human beings ...? Psychotics excluded, people have innate feelings of right and wrong, whether they're atheist or not.
So, no. I don't think there's a connection.

possibly but i think it is more to do with the government taking away the right of parents and teachers to punish, i got the cane and although it didn't do me any real harm it never done me any good either, but the punishments today are pathetic, their is also a lack of moral education, it is only when adulthood arives is anything properly done and even that is a joke, prison is not a deterant (i've been inside) and the only thing i know of that stops people doing wrong is humiliation but that is against their human rights?? what about the rights of others, it is i think a mix of sociaty failures to prevent crimes and have adiquate punishments for crimes that is to blame, along with a lack of cohesive morality being taught

What proof do you have that the thugs parents are atheists?
I think if you were to carry out a proper study you would find far more atheists in the most highly educated and paid bracket of society... And I'm sure their children are not the ones you are referring to?
Don't forget, according to the bible, God can be quite the thug too!

No direct connection. These children have been abandoned by the people who are supposed to be loving grown ups responsible for their upbringing. Either their parents are children themselves or are otherwise unsuitable for parenthood. Whether atheist or other, children of wise, loving, responsible adults do not turn out like this.
