Wait and it will come to you. Sometimes it takes a while but you have to know the dogs personality and put a name that fits the dog. Think of it like 101 dalmations the fat one is rollie so on...

What kind of dog is she? What does she look like and what is her personality?

I took in a black lab mix that some one dumped off on the side if the road - I had to name her "boogie" because she was so sweet and swung her hips from side to side all excited as though she was doing the boogie dance.

Sometimes you just have to go with what their personality is. :-D

My husband and I just tried out different names until we found one the dog liked. I know it sounds silly, but the name that stuck is the one that she instantly responded to. She never had to go through learning it because she essentially picked her own name. So that is my advice to you - try out different names that you like until your dog responds positively to one.

Whatever name comes in my mind at the time I see it for the first time, I give that name to it.

No one could answer that without knowing what kind of dog it was, what color it is, or anything. We need more details.

Unless you want something generic like Spot.

Pronounced LAH-ME.
It means friend in french.
Seems semi-appropriate.
