Despite what everyone is saying fleas CAN live on humans in the hair. I had a previous experience with a dog i took in to foster and he was infested and those nasty little critters were in my hair. I didn't know at first as i thought it was head lice but after going to the doctor he told me i had fleas living in my hair. Fleas eat blood and it doesn't matter where it comes from. If you have a bad case of fleas you should notice bites around the ankles where they bite the most.
Picking a flea out of your hair is very uncommon as they are pretty good jumpers so i would be more inclined to believe it was head lice or a bedbug of some sort.
In any event just wash your hair very thoroughly leaving the shampoo on your hair for 10-15 minutes and wash out and that should do the trick. If it is fleas then you must have pets and the problem is out of control which means you need to call a pest control guy and him come in a exterminate the fleas.
Good Luck!

Panda and firefly are right...no need to panic.

If your dog has fleas you'll need to treat them..frontline from your vet is quick and easy and protects your pet from infestation of lice and ticks for weeks...also any hatching eggs that may be around your house will be killed on contact with your pet.

Pet fleas can not live on humans and so you have no worries there.

no need to panic about fumigating your house either...spray or wash your pets bedding and vacuum your carpets thoroughly including the edges a couple of times and you'll soon have any infestation under control....

It probably means your pet brought fleas into your home and they have reached infestation levels. This may also be from a neighbor (if you live in an apartment).

You'll have to treat your whole house (or have the apartment management treat the building) for fleas. Carpets, beds, pet bedding, furniture - everything.

I suggest calling a professional exterminator for this to minimize damage to your things.

IT will have to be repeated every couple of weeks (according to the exterminator recommendations) for a series of treatments in order to kill all the fleas, larvae and eggs.

Remember, prevention is much cheaper.

if you have pets, it means you need to get some flea treatment for them... you should also get some flea bombs or spray for the house... most likely the flea hopped onto you from a pet... you won't have eggs if you wash your hair everyday... no need to panic...

Don't worry, fleas don't really hang around on humans - they may stop for a bite, but not to lay eggs!

If you've got pets though, please flea treat them, and not with stuff from pet stores. If you need to know how, just email me, I can't be bothered to type it all out again!

fleas don't live on humans, they can get on you but they won't breed or anything. If you have pets then you should definately treat them for flees and maybe even treat your house.
