I'm on my tenth day of taking antidepressants now (zoloft) and I'm even more anxious then before I started taking them, what gives?

Zoloft takes about 3 weeks to get into your system. . . whatever you are feeling it probably isn't because of the zoloft. If you are still feeling anxious in about two weeks, go back to your doctor and ask him to adjust your dosage. Mine had to be adjusted two or three times before I felt better . . .

Keep at it, the relief is definitely worth it!

Antidepressants take time to build up in your system. You can get shaky, nauseated, more depressed... So, call your doc. Even though most side effects subside by the 3rd week, you should still ask your doc if this is the right or wrong med for you.

I took paxil 10 years ago for 1 year, I threw up for 2 weeks, but eventually it helped me get through an ugly break up.

In clinical studies, antidepressants increased the risk of suicidal thinking and behavior in children and adolescents with depression and other psychiatric disorders. Anyone considering the use of Zoloft or any other antidepressant in a child or adolescent must balance this risk with the clinical need. Zoloft is only approved for treating obsessive-compulsive disorder in children 6 years and older.Anyone considering the use of Zoloft or any other antidepressant in a child, adolescent, or young adult must balance this risk with the clinical need. Short-term studies did not show an increase in the risk of suicidality with Antidepressants compared to placebo in adults beyond age 24; there was a reduction in risk with antidepressants compared to placebo in adults aged 65 and older. Depression and certain other psychiatric disorders are themselves associated with increases in the risk of suicide. The side effects may include Abdominal pain, agitation, anxiety, constipation, decreased sex drive, diarrhea or loose stools, difficulty with ejaculation, dizziness, dry mouth, fatigue, gas, headache, decreased appetite, increased sweating, indigestion, insomnia, nausea, nervousness, pain, rash, sleepiness, sore throat, tingling or pins and needles, tremor, vision problems, vomiting. I think that maybe that perticular anti-depressiant is bad for you.I had a worse reaction to it! It made me want to kick everyone's ***!Just be careful what ones that you let the docs shove down your throat!Do some research on them BEFORE you really start taking them.Has it ever occured to you that you may be bi-polar?Some people that are bipolar cannot use anti-depressants cause they are not hitting the right receptors in your brain.

I was just put on them, too and I was foggy and dizzy and it wasn't worth it. I wen to the dr. and told her that it was not cutting it. She gave me another form of medication for my hormones, maybe you can tell them that your system isn't working well with it. I've had some friends tell me that Zoloft did the trip, but with me it was evil! good luck!

Zoloft did not work for me. The only one that works for me is Cymbalta.
Talk to your doctor!

I took Zoloft and it took me 3 weeks to get in my system. Just be patient, and breathe deeply when stressed. Trust me, you'll feel better. ♥

if you are having problems with any medication, talk with your doctor about it immediately.

zoloft, like most anti-depressants, can take up to 4-6 weeks to start working. your doctor may want to decrease your dose, etc.

you really need to call the doctor to discuss this.
