So over two years ago I was a idiot and addicted to the online gambling world. I had placed bets at poker sties etc. Well recently the transaction company that funded my account was a offshore company called Citadell Commerece. Apparently I had multiple checks that bounced. They gave my debt to a horrible company collections company in the U.S..Collection company has constantly calling, and harassing me since they received the debt. I actually disputed the debt by mail and received nothing back. They actually told me they never received my dispute. I know the way thec collection company is handling it is unethical but should I be worried about this effecting my credit report. Collection company is a american company but the gambling site was offshore and and the company that accepted payment was offshore. Does collection even have the legal ability to put this on my credit report since it was a illegal transaction to beging with?

Yes they do. I would offer to settle the debt. Collectors work off a commission and depending on how high your debt was most collectors will be happy to settle just so they can get the commission. You can send a letter asking them to quit bothering you, however, all that does is send the debt directly into the attorney and into court. If you are in real financial trouble you can file bankruptcy and include this debt, or simply make payments on it.

well since on-line betting is illegal in the USA, I suggest
you turn them into the Federal Trade Commission. Citadell
and the Collection Agency. They don't expect you to fight
them back and they already lied about not receiving your letter

You have an absolute defense on this debt. Gambling debts are NOT collectible in the US. Tell them to pound sand until they explode and you'll see them in court if they insist on pursuing the matter, where you will raise your defense at which time the case will be tossed.

I do not know the answer to the question. However, if they are saying that they "never received" your dispute, send it again, and this time send it certified mail, return receipt requested, so that you will have proof that they received it.
