Maybe, maybe not. If we could reflect enough visible light back to space before it got absorbed and converted to infrared light, it would help. But you would need more than just white cars and umbrellas. Making all roofs and parking lots and such bright white would help. Making them mirrors would help more. But it would have to be done world wide on a massive scale to have any important effect. The 75% of the Earth that is water would not be available, so the 25% of Earth that is land would need to be really full of bright stuff. Brightening up only cities and roads would probably not be enough.

It will not help if you don't decrease the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Why? Because these heat-trapping gases will still absorb the heat reflected off the white surfaces you are suggesting. It's never about the sunlight but the efficiency of Earth's atmosphere to obtain heat.

Nice idea, although I have a feeling the albedo effeft would be dwarfed by the ecological footprint of all that extra wshing!

Sure, but I don't think that would solve much.
Why not just decrease the amount of energy we're using and make countries like China and US follow Kyoto protocol.

theoretically, it would reflect more of the suns rays back into space and could keep the planet cooler. Not that the global warming hoax is real........just that it would be scientific fact that the less sun rays we have the less heat we would have
