are you willing to give up some logical convictions, in order to obtain faith?

Personally, I think the idea of an infinitely powerful protector is wonderful, but i'm not willing to give up logic in order to believe in it.

If you are willing to do the 2nd, i will give you this...

Six Easy Steps

1. First, you must want to believe in God (the first requirement).
2. Next, understand that believing in God in the absence of evidence is especially noble.
3. Then, realize that the human ability to believe in God in the absence of evidence might itself constitute evidence for the existence of God.
4. Now consider any need for further evidence (both in yourself and in others) to be a form of temptation, spiritually unhealthy, or a corruption of the intellect.
5. Refer to steps 2-4 as acts of “faith.”
6. Return to 2.

It would be nice to believe a deity that was all-powerful existed and was loving enough to give a rat's a$$ what happened in my life but history proves otherwise. Logic has already reasoned that naive 'belief' away. I suppose I could always go senile... but I think I like the Egyptian pantheon better. It's more interesting and since there's a diversity, the loving gods/goddesses are allowed to be. If I were to go senile, I hope I would turn to it.

I would say I'm an atheist who is willing to accept that god exists if there were evidence adequate to the claim.

The problem with the rest of your post is you're assuming that you know what god wants. Let me ask you, did god come to you personally and say here is what I want? Lets say for argument he did. That only means god has proven himself to you. It wold be foolish of both of you to think that you can then go about trying to prove to others he exists.

1. Contradictory to rational thought. If there is a god he gave me rational thought so this would be against god.

2. If there is a god it seems unlikely he would consider it noble to oppose him. This isn't rational.

3. Then every church on earth can claim they have evidence they are right and since they all contradict each other this nullifies itself.

4. Consider instead that because of #3 you have nullified your own evidence by your own argument..

5. I would say instead 2&4 are great leaps of irrationality.

6. This merely says return to being irrational and opposing god if he does exist.

If there is a god only god can prove god. If there is no god atheism is the right path. If there is a god he made us all begin as atheists and I will stay that way until he changes that. Therefore if there is a god atheism is still the right path.

No. God isn't something yet an limitless quantity of organic means with a single experience of right and incorrect. that's impartial in each and every way. It would not have any emotions, emotions or the different factor which makes it Anthropomorphic. in simple terms about all those emotions, emotions, which comprise Love etc are constrained to human beings or the different existence form with an identical psychological gadget. those are the weak spot besides as strengths of such beings. yet God is all-efficient. It would not ought to have any strengths or weaknesses. So Love can not be linked with God's nature. i'm no longer an atheist yet i think of Atheists in simple terms have faith in the non-existence of God. considering that for them God would not exist, why might they affiliate something which does no longer exist. Love is a private decision or feeling. some could set it at diverse priorities than different issues of their existence based upon their own situations.

Your last question has been deleted for some reason.

I believe I did answer your question.

I am not an atheist so I guess I shouldn't respond to your question.

But I am a Christian and I believe that the Christian faith is the MOST logical and rational choice and is not void of evidence.

If you want to believe in an infinitely powerful protector and not give up your logic and reasoning then EMAIL me. Seriously.

Also check my past questions/answers for evidence that you can believe in God and still be logical and reasonable.

I used to want to believe in god but I'm past that now. And I don't think that believing in the absence of evidence is noble, it's silly. And I don't see how doing so is itself evidence. Why should you have to give up general logic and reason to believe in god? Thats asking a little much.

My friend, the only thing that the absence of evidence constitutes is evidence of His absence.

Sorry. I sure that the thought of eternal life appeals to many people - but I have no need, desire or "want" to believe in Gods.

i would be great if there was a god that wanted to save us all. but unfortunately there isnt so we just have to work hard to make the world a better place withot any help. if the religious people stopped wasting their time praying did something constructive we make a better world much quicker.

That can be summed up in only a few words "Ignore all evidence to the contrary, and deny any evidence that is brought to your attention while allowing yourself to remain uneducated and afraid of the unknown".
