A steam train. I am in my 50s now and remember them from when I was a child. Also as I live in Britain there are plenty of Heritage Railways with steam locos in active retirement working on them.
I work at a railway museum where we have a restored vintage steam locomotive which we occasionally fire up and run on a short section of track.
I also visit Heritage Railways as well as the occasional foray to a main line station to see one of the steam specials that run from time to time on Network Rail.
I enjoy photographing steam, collecting books, models, etc. and meeting other enthusiasts (yes, I'm a classic 'anorak' and proud of it :-) ).
Cleaner and more efficient other kinds of motive power may be, but they don't have the charm or character of the steam loco.
The general public must think so too, judging by the popularity of 'Thomas the Tank Engine' and the speed at which tickets for main line specials sell out.

Intermodal. Lots of power and high green signals... A good catch, even if it has a dynamiter in the consist, which pigs usually do. (A dynamiter is a car where the control valve for the air brakes moves erroneously to the "emergency position" when pneumatically instructed to move to the "application position," which dumps the air through the rest of the train and you come to a screeching halt. Very dangerous.)

None. I'm scared of trains because I know they can kill me if I'm not careful.

do you mean to ride on?
or work on, all I ever work on is freight trains.
I like the short overpowered ones that the dispatcher leaves alone so I can get over the road.
