They're really different. The Z is a rear-wheel-drive powered by an inline 6 cylinder engine...very performance oriented.

The SX is a lighter, front wheel drive hatchback, and I'm pretty sure it's powered by a 4-cylinder engine.

4 speed 280Z or same year 200sx? Go with the sports car every time! Save the 200sx for your drift car while weird looking side windows and hatch back or is it a funky little notch back sedan? Almost all B-210's and 200sx rear drive cars have been crushed sold for scrap. Get them both try to restore the Z stock like new...and like the other answer put a Mazda rotary in the 200sx with carb or turbo and headers race it stripped down at NOPI gatherings.

The Datsun will bury you in maintenance costs and repairs because it's mechanically deficient. The 200SX is lighter, smaller etc but bullet-proof. Their engines just don't die and they get 450 miles per tank in the city.
