Great question. Our religious education classes (5th grade up) are studying "The Gospel According to Harry Potter" which is a basically Christian curriculum with more added to it to include other religions perspectives. I am a Unitarian Universalist.

My best concern with this argument is that folk who do no longer choose you to study the series have never themselves study the series. i like the books and that i permit my little ones study them, and that i'm no longer a witch and neither are my little ones. If reading a e book could make you a witch then I could be waiting to indicate to an merchandise around the room with a wood stick and say, "Accio" and it would come to me...regrettably, it would not. The Harry Potter series is approximately solid combating evil and the struggles that one has to bypass via to ultimately triumph over evil. additionally think approximately that almost 800 million copies of Harry Potter have been offered around the international. There are not 800 million witches in the international. that's a exciting tale and lots extra effective written and a much extra effective ethical tale than Twilight. (Which i've got additionally study.)

I think it's a bit too far to try to find Christian allegories from it. It's definitely not a Christian series. That said, as a Christian, I don't personally have a problem with the books persay, and infact I had a good time reading them. But that's all they are, a good read. Nothing more, nothing less.

Harry Potter has proven to have opened up the old ungodly witchcraft, magic, divination, sorcery, familiar and evil spirits that God said, do not consult. Those involved in this wickedness shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The books are abominations to God. Wicca has greatly increased because of them. The interest in magic and sorcery and tarot cards and every evil imaginable thing.

Although Harry Potter is full of fantasy, its interesting to see how much of it is real. In an interview on The Diane Rehm Show(in England), Rowling admitted that fully one third of her material is based on actual occultism. "Every time the dark side or the supernatural world is presented as harmless or even imaginary, there is the danger that children will become curious and find out too late that witchcraft is neither harmless nor imaginary"

I think it is good in a way because it stimulates the imagination and helps children develope an urge to read but, on the flip side I do not agree with the subliminal messages that parents are bad and not understanding and all of the other stuff they sneak in there.

I too have seen MANY Christian subjects through all the books.....
I didn't read my 1st HP book for many years after they started... I allowed myself to be judging them without reading them.... Once I read the 1st one, I was stunned to see nothing but GOOD....however, As a writer and avid reader, I was applauding an Authors style, technique, useage of what is known and of imagination, and the storyline.... As a Christian, I found nothing but good about ALL of them.
Remember, was judgemental going in...searching for the bad as well as the good...But, other then being in a setting of witches, sorcery, etc.,. I saw many Christian themes running through them all.
God often uses the foolish and weak to confound the wise. :)
***However....I do NOT believe these are for YOUNG children...nor for those whom feel it is "wrong"...To do something you think is wrong can cause damage and a person always should listen to their instincts...Jesus spoke about this in the Bible, and I understand why.... So, putting people down for NOT liking HP is wrong...leave them be.

The woman who wrote is a christian and has said there are indeed christian allegories in the book.
Much like C.S. Lewis and Tolkien. They wrote fiction but with christian allegories. They had witches, wizards, etc.
Yet they are not considered evil. Meditate up on that.
