I see reality as mostly gracious with prick points of hostility. I think perceptions and the subconscious have a great deal to do with the way we view reality.

It's neither. Reality is 100% neutral. It favors no one.

My reality is God, and though I was once hostile against Him, suffering the consequences, even when I was His enemy I was reconciled to Him through the death of His Son. I have now lived in the grace (favor) of God nearly 37 years.
If God be for you, who can be against you?
On the other hand, if God be against you, there is no one else who can help you.

Reality is concrete, fact; it is our reactions to it that are either gracious or hostile.

You've got it correct with neutral. The glass may be viewed as either half full or half empty.

Hostile is a harsh word for it.
I would say it is a constant competition for resources and opportunities
