The Navy Medical Corps consists only of physicians. I assume you are talking about the Navy Hospital Corps, who are enlisted personnel. They serve aboard ship, sometimes without the presence of a doctor, and with Marine units (including Marine Infantry Battalions).
I did thirteen years of service as a Navy Hospital Corpsman before receiving a commission from the ranks. During that time I served with all three Marine Divisions, the Expeditionary Brigade to Cuba during the Missile Crisis of 1962, a submarine tender, a cruiser, a mine sweeper squadron, a Naval Beach Group and a ship of the Special Project Fleet (USS Banner). The last two assignments were duties independent of a doctor. I was the Medical Department for that unit and that ship.

When I was in the Marines we always had a Navy Corps man with us in the field.

They did not shoot a gun, but got shot at, just like we did.
They were also the best liked guy in the group.

You might be on a ship or you might be assigned to a Marine unit and go into combat with them.

Good luck!
